EC5 Connections to Lipo 6s

Hi,
I need some help and advice please. I am in the process of soldering EC5 connectors to my two 6s Nano tech lipos. I connected an EC5 connector to the red + and black - wires, all seemed ok. I then wanted to test connection and connected the battery EC5 to an EC5 charger lead which I plan to use on my FUSION 712 PRO. It was a really tight fit and I struggled to connect the two. All of a sudden there was a POP and I think a SPARK. What have I done wrong. Before this test I connected another EC5 charger lead and all OK. Does anyone have any advice and have I just ruined a BRAND NEW battery.

a picture would be nice of how youve soldered it all up.
I very much doubt youve damaged your lipo there would have been a little more than a pop im sure.

as long as you have the polarity correct (red + black -) you will be fine. The pop when you connect does often happen when you connect the lipo to the charger. Depending on your charger it will first check the battery first before starting the charge telling you if the lipos good or bad.

Was it a big spark? 6s packs do give you a bit of a crack. Either way, it should be alright.

Did you have the discharge leads disconnected? I persume the connections touched at some point.

What was the charge lead connected to?

As above, if unconnected the bullets may have been touching.

Thanks for reply. I dont have a picture Im afraid. I used the larger round gold plugs for the battery is that correct. I cut the original plug off and worked on one wire at a time. I tinned the end of the wire and then tinned the gold connector. I then placed the wire in the gold connector and soldered the two together.
Dont get why it popped and Im releived that I hope its not damaged.

The charge lead was not connected to any charger. I connected the two just to see the fit. I was not looking at the gold banana leads, they could of touched, so this could cause the pop. Also the discharge lead was unconnected. Im an idiot, I reckon my soldering is all ok its just Im not very careful

As you have learned, never hook up an unconnected charge lead to a battery.... Always plug the charge lead in first, then the battery.

Bare bullets floating around is just asking for a short.

The convention for EC5 is the male plastic plug goes on the battery end with the female bullets. It doesn't really matter though unless you intend on sharing batteries or using shop bought cables.... Just so long as all your stuff is the same.

The larger tubes go on the battery in the smaller housing the pins & there are different types here as the ones
I have are slotted pins but some have a spring cage system go on the charge lead in the larger housing.
