I dont want to sound stupid but havent I already got the extra required rotor holders already?

            these - 600PRO Metal Main Rotor Holder H60204 - Align T-Rex Spares align trex 600E Pro - ALIGN-TREX.co.uk

my 3gx v2 came with identical ones to these and it does say in the description.....

Existing swashplate and newer main rotor grips are kept in the upgrade.

as seen in my pics at the bottom of this page...

            http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/align-...gx-v2-fbl.html

to add I already have a 8x10x31mm 600size feathering shaft.

can someone also explain the benefits of dampers?

finally I was told the current shaft be ok but the upgrade is 12x163.3mm and the 550e is 6x10x177mm

so the 10mm bearings need changing dont they?

            confused.

I may have accidently just placed an order for one of these

question - do I leave the 550 10mm shaft in then? and do i need to keep the thrust bearings and washers in the rotor holders? or do I swap for the suplied shaft?

                  thanks.

Can someone clear up my shaft query, why would they supply a 12mm shaft when it fits to a 10mm? I don't understand this part....

Maybe its a typo on the 12mm shaft diameter Pilotphil. The 550 and 600 pro use the same shaft don't they? No-one's mentioning changing main shaft bearings, so I reckon it'll fit.

I'm a bit worried about what you've said earlier about ball links popping off on the head. Obviously this upgrade eliminates this possibility, but if ball links are popping off there is something seriously wrong! The vast majority of helis in the world are using ball links to connect the pitch arms to the swashplate and its not a common failure point. Align make at least 4 if not more ball and ball link sizes, most with fractions of a millimeter differences in their diameter. Changing from one ball diameter to another is only possible if you also change ball links. Changing from 3mm to 4mm balls would be a huge change!

When new they should be a tight fit to snap on, but should move reasonably freely when on. It should be necessary to use ball link pliers to remove one (unless you're really tough!)

It comes with a 10mm main shaft which is a direct replacement for the original one.

Where Is there any mention of links popping off inflight?

Compass have been running a solid downlink head design for ages and the swash end balls do not pop off there is absolutely no reason for them too on this head either.

It is considerably lower,on the normal fbl head blade tip to top of boom is 160mm on the 600 Pro its 145mm on the 550 now with Dfc it's 120 mm.This is still considerably more than the distance between my butt cheeks when I fly it later.

I don't think pilotphil had experienced or heard of links popping off. I think he was worried for some reason about the links at the pitch arms coming off on the original head design and mentioned replacing 3mm balls for 4mm ones as a solution. I've never heard of ball links popping off as a recurring issue on any heli, hence i was querying his concern.

pilotphil, i think you should at least learn to hover with your head then once you smash it up change to the DFC. there is no point in changing everything when you have yet to learn to fly it

yeah guess, your money i suppose. im happy with my head as its quite low anyway on the 600 pro. looking at the design id say there is a fair bit of load on the rods that connect down to the swash and im not totally convinced with the design. ill let others do the testing on that one
