  • Fried My Trex 600's ESC

Second flight in my new Trex 600, just started to spool up and it started smoking - lots of pink smoke, just like my 90 on Magnum - not talking a little puff, bellows of the stuff so I figure it's buggered.

I was going to send it straight back but after seeing the Trex BBQ pictures I might just buy a new one - any suggestions- Jeti, Schulze - though not CC.

Not too bothered about the problem, what did annoy me is that the wind dropped and I managed to get out for 10 mins

    Thomas,

Sorry to hear about the Esc mate.
What throttle curve have you been running?
    Cheers,

In noramal mode - 80% but never got close, as about a second after the blades started to turn it went.

Doesnt sound like its anything YOU'VE done then mate.
Have heard of people blowing esc's by using linear throttle curves etc, must just be a bad esc.

Jazz esc's are getting great write-ups, expensive though. Why not CC?
Never had any issues with mine and the PC link is a godsend
        Cheers,

this sounds like the known problem on the Align ESC of it going open circuit on spool up. Affects 2% of the ESC but was recently fixed in a firmware upgrade.

            Bit late for mine

I've got a Jazz in the Eolo, very nice ESC - had loads of problems with CC in the past

Sounds like a warranty claim to me
You might as well try for a replacement and stick with the Align esc Thomas. Upgrade at a later date if you feel the need, once You've got used to the heli.

Best get those Auto's nailed soon then

Seriously though..Why should the consumer have to stand the cost of another esc just because the firmware is at fault?
Plan B - Get new esc on warranty, flog on ebay and Jazz the Rex!

Pretty much where my plans are, although I'm just waiting on the new Jeti ESC's just in case. wouldn't use a Castle Creations ESC on a big heli on 35Mhz in the US they are fine but here too many issues. My baby T-Rex is fine but that's my limit

Is the Jeti stuff any good, I was looking at getting a Jeti or Schulze RX for my slope thingy as the £15 jobby in it doesn't cope with the TX being more than a few feet away

I'm after a Kontroniks 80-6-18 (I believe Ash uses that) and I hear from many people the CC HV85 is quality.

Sorry to hear about your esc...looks like you were one of the unlucky ones.

Smoothound...I hope you haven't got one but if it looks like the old version don't worry as it's not likely to be one of the defective ones.
