trex 600 esc help

Hi guys, I am just trying to finish off building my trex 600 dfc. I am building this as a practice heli, so Didnt go all out on the electronics . I am using standard align servos mini v bar align motors etc. I purchase an 80amp yep esc for it, only to learn it doesn't have a built in bec. Could someone help me with my options now? How do I power everything? I was thinking about a castle talon 120hv for it?

Go for an external bec then. Someone will jump in and recommend one, something like a castle bec pro.

If you don't want to have another pack to charge then it needs to be an external BEC. I just wired up a Gryphon Agena BEC with a Hobbywing 70HV and so far it works great. Before that I was running an LiFe pack and it worked fine but just took up a bit of space and was one more thing to deal with in terms of charging and checking etc.

I'd also recommend something like the Opti Ultraguard as a backup.

Are you running 12s? I recon that bec hasn't a high enough rating.

you can run on 1of 5s packs will still be same its on rated at30v

The Castle BEC Pro is hard to beat on bang for buck, to get the best out of it run it off one 5s pack rather than the full 10s voltage. I'm using one on my 600 Pro and it's been 100% reliable.

So what motor will you use with 10s? The stock 510-530Kv motors are designed for 12s so will be a bit slow if running on 10s, and there is no provision for changing the pinion to get that lost RPM back. It will still fly 'ok' on 10s but you will be a bit short on headspeed and power. ideally you would want a motor of about 630Kv or so

I was hoping to use my logo 600 packs for this helicopter. If that doesn't look likely I will have to sell the packs along with the logo, and look at 6s packs. I have 6s 5000 I am hoping to use in my forza, but I doubt they will fit in the 600 :-( The motor i have is a 600mx but i need to check the kv

the 600MX is 510Kv

And you are correct, 6s 5000mAh packs are too big. It's designed for 6s 3000-3300 size
