  • 600dfc wearing out umbrella gears

    Good Evening all,

I'm scratching my head a bit with this not sure where to put my finger on it, the heli is a new build latest 600 dfc with the 750mx.

The tail isn't brilliant on it, it's not as good as my efl was it kicks out a bit even with revomix on the beastx on high, I never ran revo on my efl and was pretty happy but it only had the 600mx in it.

I've just been giving it a once over checking everything to make sure it's all good and noticed dust around the umbrella gears. I've pulled them out and they have worn quite a bit and it has only done 16 flights.

My gov gain is at 13 and I run a headspeed of 2300. My efl was up at 17 iirc and never wore a gear out in 100 flights until I decked it lol

I had set it all up with the govenor gain a lot lower than I usually would, it would drop headspeed at the bottom of a loop. I've brought it back up a step at a time until it holds a consistent headspeed.

The gearmesh on the dfc umbrella gears doesn't seem to be any different to what my efl was, it's loose now they're worn but was good when built.

Is it something I'm going to have to live with running a bigger motor or are the black gears weaker, or do I need to change some things? I've got spare gears so that's no prob.

I've got many flights with mine using a Scorpion SKIII-4035-530Kv and havent had any wear like that. I did strip one set of gears but that was at least in part due to having gov. gain a little high. You might try shimming them to tighten the mesh. I got a 0.2mm shim in mine which took out the slop that was there in the standard assembly.

I've fitted another set of the black gears again the bevel gears seem better than before.

The mesh to the auto gear is fine on one side and as you rotate it it's tight on the other, makes me laugh. I'll give it a couple of flights, check it and shim it once it's settled in as I put it back together to clear the kitchen table
