  • Simstick & AR8000 Rx

Has anyone got this combination working with Phoenix?

Have ordered the cheap hobbyking rx for long term but that is in transit

I have used 6 servo extension leads to attach rx, but whatever I do it is only showing 3 channels on the calibrate screen.

Also how far should the Phoenix jack push into the SimStick?

Pouring with rain here so real flying unlikely, hence tinkering with the SimStick

Not tried the 8000 nick but it should work
have you viewed the video on simstick website?
the pinouts on the rx will need to be reasigned
in phoenix to get it all working properly ie they
dont follow the normal set up that phoenix assumes.

      Hi there.

OK we haven't checked with an AR8000, but it should work - in theory!!

It's hard to describe this but bear with me.

1 Connect 6 leads into the simstick
2 Connect them in any order to the AR8000 up to Aux1
3 With Pheonix running get the config screen up. (see video in our instructions)

If all 6 channels are not there then:

1 Unplug channel 2 in the Simstick and re-check the config screen
NOTE: channel 2 is the 2nd one in from the end where you plug the dongle in - i.e. opposite the from the jack)
2 In the config screen 5 channels should now be showing. if so:

What you you will then need to do is - one at a time - unplug a channel and try it in channel 2, then plug THAT channel in the free channel.

Do this one at a time until you have all 6 channels.

We believe this will work but please don't hold us to it

      Good luck

Thanks Richie, but still do not seem to be able to see the correct number of channels

In the profile screen, I can see limited activity on Controller channels 1,2 & 3 then all the rest is on

        Static 25%
        Static 50%
        Static 75%
        Static 100%

Also just tried it with an AR9000 rx and also a DX7 tx. All have the same result so it must either be something that I am doing wrong (highly likely!), or there is something wrong with the sim stick.

In fairness the sim stick has not been certified to work with the AR8000 or AR9000

Never got an answer on how far do you push the jack in on the sim stick?

              Thanks Geek, I've seen that

Everything I can find on the web always starts with sufficient channels being picked up by Phoenix. Which is not the case for me

                Hi Nick

Sorry as it's Sunday I'm sure you understand I'm "not at work", but I would like to help if I can .

I actually have no idea whether it should work with the AR8000 as we've never checked it with one. I do know it works with the DX8 and a AR6110 however.

Anyway to answer your questions, the jack should be all the way in.

                I've pmed you as well

The stereo jack on mine pushes all the way in (so the shoulder at the base of the jack buts against the collar of the simstick connector) but it is quite tight and takes a firm amount of presure to get it to engage.

                    Hi Richie

Got your PM thanks, just installed Skype but now need to put my 3 yr old to bed. If ok I'll make contact with you in an hour or so if that is convenient.

As you say may well be the rx's, just not got a 6 channel lieing around at the moment

If you happen to get hold of an AR6100 or similar it will be working in a couple of minutes Nick.

                      I love mine.

I know Tim, but it's been a rainy day so stuck in with no flying and not got one to hand, lol

Have ordered an £11 HobbyKing jobbie, which is known to work but it is in transit at the moment

After a long chat with Richie tonight, no further on. But I am going to send my setup in to be looked at. Should then know whether it was the higher channel Spektrum Rx's that are the issue, my dodgy wiring or the sim stick.

Big thanks to Richie anyway, great customer support

                            Hi,
Did you ever get to the bottom of what the problem is? I seem to have exactly the same problem.
                            Regards,
                            Trevor

Yes, from memory the simstick does not work with the AR8000. I just use a cheap orange Hobbyking rx
