  • Bootcamp on Lion with XP....

Im on a new iMac and never heard of Bootcamp or 'Parallels' - all new to me. I do have a legit copy of XP somewhere but looks like the latest Bootcamp won't run it - 2 questions:

How can I get a sim on my mac
WIll my prehistoric tx work with it? (Futaba FP-T6VH) or even just my Lama 4ch tx?

    Thanks

Thanks be good if you're right but from the Apple support site (Boot Camp 4.0, OS X Lion: Frequently asked questions)
      3. Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 4.0?
You can use Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, or Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate with Boot Camp 4.0. Windows XP and Windows Vista are not supported with Boot Camp 4.0.

Lion doesn't support Windows XP at all. But there's a way around it.

Telastipes: Yes Virginia, you can dual boot XP and OSX lion.

Not sure how tech savvy you are, but it's really straight forward.

Otherwise you need to invest in a Windows 7 disk. :-(

I recently got my first macbook air running Lion and I run Phoenix v3 on xp via parallels. I tried with boot camp, but it was giving me a headache, so I tried parallels for the first time and all installed flawlessly. Highly recommend.

For the price of Parallels you can buy Windows 7, which is way better than XP and actually supported, and just bootcamp for free. Sure it requires a reboot, but that takes a few seconds for me and my Mac is a few years old now.

You could run XP in Bootcamp with Leopard OS, but not with Lion - W7 only I'm afraid.

But it does work very well.

Let me know if you need an installation disk.

Ok that sounds a good option. Did not know you had to buy Parallels, learn something new every day! I thought Bunker has a copy of xp lying around. If he is like me I hate winblows with a passion. Just want a basic and fast os to run phoenix.

I'm running Windows XP bootcamp on my MacBook Pro running OSX Lion?

Simply partition the disk as you'd like with the Boot Camp Utility, and then skip the rest of the boot camp Windows. Put in your Windows XP Install CD. Reboot the computer, holding down option to access the boot menu. Boot into the Windows XP Install CD. Install like normal. When finished, you will have a fully working Windows XP install with no drivers.

                    Hi,
I'm also running windows xp on my iMac with bootcamp with absolutely no issues. And Phoenix runs very nice on it.
                    Cheers, Rich

Thanks to everyone, looks like the way forward is to try it - I don't know much about the workings of computers and partitions etc but will have a go.
                        Thanks all.
