  • Removing canopy paint

    Hi giys

several years ago I painted my canopy Subaru blue. Now after the years it is knackered. So I just wanted to get rid of the paint and have it white again. I remember spraying it in a primer then the top coat.

I have removed 99.9% of the paint by scraping it off. Then I have attacked it with sand paper and then wet and dry. However there is still a blue tinge in places. I have reduced it with solvent cleaner but was thinking if any of you guys have any ideas?

If the majority of the paint is off, and you've sanded it smooth could you not just give it some coats of white primer?

Just keep sanding with wet and dry then would be my only suggestion

That looks like a raptor bleach bottle canopy. If that's the case no amount of sanding will help. The paint has stained the plastic. Your best bet is as been suggested repaint, first using a plastic primer available from any motor shop

That's sounds like what has happened mike. It is a raptor canopy. Ok looks like a re spray then. Matt black?

If you're gonna spray that bottle plastic cano, then you need to use adhesion promoter on it first, or whatever paint you use will just fall off. Personally I wouldn't bother, the price of a new white cano for the 600 (looks like that anyway) can only be £15 or so.
                  Just my opinion

So true but I've ended up with canopies everywhere.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Why simplify when it is so much simpler to complicate.

Best way I've found for getting paint off canopies is crashing them into the ground.
