Trex 600N main blade tracking

Hi,

the main blade tacking keeps going out on my trex 600N and i dont know why, ive changed the feathering shaft, main shaft , dampers, the head spins up at upto mid stick ok and looks and in track on the floor, but the more head speed i give it and goes light on the skids and hovers, the tracking goes out


any ideas

Check the links esp the ones on the blade grips, it might be loose.

Also check your pitch on both blades at the swash on top, middle and bottom to see if is the same. Could be setup wrong from the linkages go to swash?

Have you got another pair of blades you can try or borrow, i had a similar problem with my 600n and it was some faulty align blades.

Check blade link could be bent or possibly mixer arm

I have the same problem with my 600N, someone said its down to the plastic blade grips and I should change to the alloy ones.

Surely that cant be true???????

But i have checked or changed everything else shafts bearings links even tried 3 different sets of blades now.

Does yours have plastic or alloy grips?

Never had trouble with plastic grips, have you tried another set of blades, sounds like they're out slightly. What make are they, please don't say Torsion, although I have had the same on Align 600D's

try running with quite tight blade grip bolts had a set with worn or damaged holes kept tracking out, tightened till blades very stiff solved tracking

Blades are align 3D , blade grips are Plastic,

put a bit of tape on 1 blade like you would normally to track. see what 1 is higher then swap blades round.

if the same blade tracks high in both blade grips there is internal damage causing blade to twist. (I had this after a bird of prey tried mating with mine) flew fine but I still threw away

I have tried torsion blades (bad) and align blades (which are perfect on my mates 600) when I set the tracking it's fine in the hover, then if I punch collective and climb out on return to hover the blade tips are miles out (20mm)

I have tried this with blades set loose normal and tight still the same.

The best I have had is with SAB blades that have the thin root and the washers/spacers either side of the blades, these only change by 5mm at the tips but still not perfect.

I have changed the feathering shaft, damper rubbers checked all the bearings and now replaced the grips (plastic again as loads of people seem to use them ok)

Check that the main rotor housing and the main shaft stay square to each other, I chased a similar problem where there was a difference of blade heights after a short spool up even though they were spot on when I did the set up. I thought it was the tracking but after checking everything found that there was a small amount of wear between the main shaft and the housing and this was causing them to not stay true. I checked the height of the blades on my dinner table, use the same place on the flat surface to check both blades just rotate the head and you will see if there is a difference. fitted new shaft and main rotor housing. problem solved.... hope this helps

Firstly I don't want to seem like I have hijacked Dapper_Dans thread but thought this seemed like a similar problem and might help?

I have done a similar check measuring the blade tip height from my workbench (dining table) and if I lift the Heli up with the blades (the blades creak in the grips at this point which I think is normal) and then set it down again the tips are higher 10-15mm than they were. Push them down and they creak again and return to original position, this was when I bought the new plastic grips as I assumed they we at fault.

Even if the headblock was loose the blades would still move as one so I don't think this is the problem, the headblock would need to be warped or bent. If the feathering shaft is okay then I would still say the blades. Is there any slop from the swash, washout etc
