I had an almost permanently locked OWB on my 550FBL. Didn't cause any gear stripping with the standard original gears. Even when the EC5 popped and I had to Auto down, the gears didn't strip.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning. Now too many Helis to mention?
I know the OWB is about 2 months old and Before my "situation" my heli would auto as normal (for me) as I am rebuilding my heli I have noticed the maingear is showing a one third chamfer along the botton of the teeth? I have also experienced OWB lock up but as per John it did not strip any of the drive chain so I can only continue to rebuild and remain optimistic this heli has been so reliable considering the pilot and I have had over 40 trouble free flights until recently as modelguard suggested a OWB would account for my rapid decay on the maingear and I am quite happy to fit a new bearing "to be continued"
If I get get to have a look at your 550 I am sure I could tell you what the trouble is.........other than that how the devil are you?
And how the devil is Scotland? Crap here at the moment. Yesterday morning, RED HOT. Clouds and COLD wind came during my last flight, onlu wearing 'T' shirt, so I left, Stanley was just on his way.
