Re: ar7200bx and talon 90 esc throttle calibration

Hi you need a separate battery pack for the beastx in order to configure the talon (just for that). There are some instructions in the HH website, sorry on my mobile so cannot give you the concrete link.

    Hope that helps a little

Yep. I had the same troubles with the Talon and the AR7200BX.

Its the smart safe in the beastx. http://www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/SPMA...l_addendum.pdf

Just power the beastx first and then the talon and youll be away!

Ohhh and make sure you do this safely, as you dont want a short! What I did was take a servo extension and cut the middle wire (I think) and used this on the talon throttle channel to disconnect the bec in the talon. Then use a standard receiver pack into a spare channel on the beastx

If you need any more instructions etc just drop me a PM and I will talk you through what I did

cheers thanks ! very much appreciated i have heard of several ways of doing it. 1 is to use a seperate receiver to calibrate esc throttle endpoints and then connect to ar7200bx as normal afterwards. 2 is to use some system which i have seen on helifreak which seems a bit long winded and now the way you have described! any ideas which way i should go for the best ?

You can use the scorpion backup guard to power the bx before the esc. Im sticking one on my g500 as a backup but it can come in handy for setup too.

I did mine last night.Set your endpoints on your Tranny to 0 or as low as it will go in the Throttle Channel.
Temp remove the throttle red wire from the Talon(lift the black tab up carefully with a very small screwdriver and slide out the connector).Put Talon throttle lead with wire removed into BX throttle port.Turn on your Tranny.
Connect your BX to a nicad battery supply.Connect your Talon to the 6S Battery and it will beep 6 times.set you high endpoint first until the motor beeps and go a further 2 clicks.Do the same for low endpoint and your ESC is programmed.
Raise your throttle on your tranny slowly and your motor should start to spool up.

cheers for that sparts at last explained in detail what to do and when ! just 1 more question when u set your throttle channel to 0 high and low do u need to have your tx stick trims set in the middle or do u need to drop the throttle 1 to full low or anything similar.

                cheers

Guys, is it worth getting the castle usb link for setup or is it not needed?

I have my trims disabled so I suppose you just leave them in the middle.
When doing high end point you have your throttle stick set to high and when doing low throttle stick at the bottom.

I have the CC link and it enables you to set servo voltage, governor etc.
You can normally pick them up 2nd hand quite cheap on here.

Greetings to all of you and Kylelnsn,

I've finished building my T-REX 550 DFC, but i'Ve wasted my last 2 days and money trying to make the AR7200BX Works with the CC Talon 90.... i've tried all i could find on the web..

Tried stuff from this thread here, and all the stuff linked below.

Setting endpoints on Castle Creations Talon 90 with Spectrum 7200BX receiver on T-rex 550 DFC V3 - YouTube
Align 550 settings for Castle Talon 90 ESC - YouTube

                        http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo..._endpoints.pdf

And nothing... how i usualy set ESC (Align ones so far) was to binf to another RX, setups, then rebind to the AR7200BX... always worked, now this time, using the RX i was able to bind, set the endpoints properly using the trick on all the link below, no problem at all, i get the beep on stick high and stick low etc... but once i rebind to the BeastX, nothing on startup... the ESC just doesn't wanna arm the motor and only sounds i get are the 6 beeps for the 6s...

I then tried the first way (i've attached pciture of all the items i used, tried all combinations) was to use a Rx Pack as external power, didn't worked, i then took off my BEC from my 600, changed the connector to get EC3 so i can use my RX Pack i bought... same thing, no joy, can'T set the endpoints on... the ESC just never wanna arm.. i'Ve tried all the order possible, all i could read, and nothing.... only thing i'Ve noticed, the Rx pack i got which connect as external power, had only a red and black wire, no white wire, same for the External BEC, only red and black... could this be my problem on both alternative?

I'm just really desperate now and about to loose my patience and throw this ESC out the window....

The RX i used to bind and set Endoints no problem at all.

On my new 550DFC with the Talon 90 and the AR7200BX. I just plugged in and away it went.
Both the AR7200BX and the Talon have to see ZERO in order to work.
Have you got a ZERO on the Throttle?
I didn't calibrate the Throttle for the Talon, because the manual states the settings are set to the Align recommendations.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

                            Thanks for the reply John

I think it was. Last time i looked at my Monitor on my DX8, low stick was -100, mid stick was 0 and high stick was 98 or so. I got something to try when i get home, i did get a reply from Castle Creation custumer service.

I do agree with you that the manual state that no settings/programming was necessary for the Talon, but the Throttle Calibration is setting your TX, not the ESC. But my main prob wasn't settings the End points, i can do it when i plug in my AR7020 qhich is a normal RX, it works, the thing is, when i rebind to the AR7200BX, when i start, the Mortor doesn't arm, all i can hear is, the 6 beeps for the cell count, after, nothing, so i was trying to set the endpoints, knowing that if the end-points worked, when turning on the ESC normally, the motor would arm... gonna try what Steve from CC wrote me, if it ain't working, the problem might be the BeastX, since i can set endpoints, and spool motor when binded to the AR7010.

                            Gonna let you guys know.

Well, i tried what the guy from CC wrote me, and as he said, if i could bind to an AR7010 and it worked, the problem wasn't the ESC... so i got home, tried 2 times, still doesn't work, so i decided to take my 500 out and use it's AR7200BX i have on it, and bingo, first try all worked... so it's my new AR7200BX which is faulty Tying to reach Horizon Hobby to know what to do, dunno if it's them or the hobby shop i bought from.....
