  • Nano cpx tail blowout

Hi all, anyone have a nano cpx with tail holding issues? Mine is fine until i load it up ie it falls then to full power and thats when the tail lets go, to the point it will rotate 180 degrees or more. This is making 3d impossible will full positive or negative. The motor is new as is the tail, batteries good and no damage. Got to admit though that this is my second main motor and tail motor and had no problem with the originals. The other issue is i sometimes get the pendulum or toilet bowl effect in a hover, any ideas on how to stop this? My main blades are fairly tight as is the feathuring shaft. Anyway thanks in advance.

    Sell it,get an mcpx bl

I never got on with the nano,i really dont think its that great for 3d tbh, even being gentle on the pitch changes it was not locked in.

Believe me, i tried all i could to get it to flip and roll on the spot!

Well i gotta admit it has had more issues than i would have liked but i still love the little guy! And i don't think the missus would like another addition to the house although it does look good. How is it durability wise? Is it all its hyped up to be? Remember the nano was all hype at the beginning .

Check if the fs is slightly bent... I roll mine on glass regularly. If they are out of true they cause tbe and tail blowout.

Yeah its true unfortunately, replaced the old bent one with a new but still the same. Can live with tbe as always flying forward in circuits etc but tail blowing is frustrating as hell, i thought the nanos werent supposed to suffer from this. Maybe ive just got a weak tail motor

They are the same for durability i reckon, mcpx bl has a thicker boom.

This was the best flight i ever had with the nano, even then i was landing and tweaking....i gave up with it on this night and sold it on that night to one of the old chaps who just flies around.

And this is just an average flight with the bl,not once has the tail blown, even with bad pitch management.

Think it justifies my first reply lol....shame you cant see the big smile on my face lol

You cant buy flying skills, you have to earn them with practice.....the nano did nothing for my flying, the bl and 130x have though.

The BL needs no mods or upgrades,it's just perfect.I have put a MH swash on mine as it did so much for the mcpx. Not flown it yet with new swash but will be between 3-5 today, looking forward to it.

                  Nano cpx tail blowout

How many flights in the tail motor? This happens when it's dying. My first one lasted approx. 200 flights.

Also worn tail blades can cause this.

A lot of people have learned a lot from the nano cpX especially for inverted and 3D where they lack confidence to do the moves with their 450 or larger helis. After gaining the confidence on the nano many go forward to do the same moves on bigger helis. They are very durable but parts do wear fast as well. Maybe a new tail boom is needed. You can use the mcx2 motors as they are the same motor as the tail and make a solid CF tail boom up maybe and reuse the wires from your old boom. Small mod to do a little soldering but a much more durable tail that can have the motor replaced independently to the boom itself! Worth a though... Its what I do

P.S Hope you find a fix as when you get the nano to fly with out the bugs its a sweet little heli to fly

I wish the tail was old but it was a new tail, only had about 10 flights, have fixed old tail to a solid cf boom and gonna swap them over to see if the motors dodgy. Old motor was fine, it was the boom that died. Poor little guy has had some hard knocks practicing 3d

Sure mine too but a cheap way to practice inverted ;-) for real. I just don't get on with Phoenix so much I get bored!
