UPDATE - Page 3 Videos - Maiden Flight

Hello, just arrived today my second hand fusion 50 FBL.

it was turnigy engine 1100k, ESC Align RCE-BL 100, Flybarlesssystem Align 3G, cyclic DS-821 HI Torque Spektrum, Tail Align DS 620, blades torsion 600mm.

I only have hands for normal flight, I now fly a HK/trex 500, I have no courage for going 3d and if I go it will be with the 500, not with fusion.

The main gear is stripped. I now that is normal in this heli, I now that I have to upgrade to cnc.

    My doubts:

can I with this setup fly with 6s ? What I have to change ? Esc ? Blades ? Motor Pinion ? Main gear and small number of theeth ?

I have the same questions for 12s...

What I have to change ? esc ? Blades ? Motor Pinion ? Main gear and small number of theeth ?

i need to know what to buy for each case, I would like to fly with 6s but I don't know if I have all, what is needed to change... I also don't know if it is ready to fly 12s, it is a second hand, I don't know what the previous owner changed.

i need the number of teeth on pinion and gears because I want to buy everything new before trying... Shafts, gears main, torque gears.

esc I also don't know if it can handle 6s... Or 12s...

thank you for your help in advance.

    Nobody? ..... wow.

OK the heli at present is setup for 6s, I know this because that is as high as the BL100 goes. So you are ready to fly 6s. To change to 12s you would need a different ESC and a different motor and probably a different pinion. You would also need a bec or flight pack unless you bought a top end 12s ESC. If you are sport flying there is no point going to 12s.

Just saw this thread. 6S may not have enough grunt for 600mm blades, you may be better down sizing the blades to 550 size. Just leave the boom as is. Stuart flew his (now mine! ) Fusion on 550 blades 6S, but as a 600 size model and it flew great.

To go 12S you'd need a motor with a lower Kv rating (RPM per volt). Essentially, by going from 6S to 12S you're doubling the voltage so you'd end up with 4000RPM headspeed which is way to high. You'd need to drop the motor to 500-550 ish Kv to stay around the 2000RPM head speed range and you'd also need an 80-120A High Voltage ESC (£150 upwards) to cope with the 12S. As Swashbuckler says, if you're just sticking to sport, stay on 6S, but personally I would recommend changing the blades to 550 size.

      Hope this helps.

Thank you ! I will fly 6s, I have 3 batteries from my 500, 3000mah 20c... Now the question, what is the number teeth of the gears, main and the smaller, and also the pinion theeth that I should assemble ? I don't have a clue and want to buy new parts...

Just work out what headspeed you want to run and then use this to work out your pinion size, you must know the main gear.

I've never flown a 6S setup myself, so I could be wrong. Using this calculator (very useful!) it recommends 13T.

That's based on 6S (22.2V), target RPM of 2000, 129T on the main gear and with your 1100Kv motor. Personally, if it's not already on 13T, I would order one, and also a 14T and 15T just in case. I'm not sure what the suitable RPM for a 550 size is, but I'd hazard a guess and say you'd probably want a little more than 2000.

Hi I see you fly a 500 what size packs do you have? I fly 3300 in 12s form you can get a fairly cheap setup esc a hobbywing 70ahv, bec and a align 600mx 510kv motor 14t pinion
              Oxy4+, tgy servos, hw60a, spirit fbl on 6s 🤓

3000mah 6s wont be enough and WILL kill your packs, you want batteries around the 5000mah mark, min 4000mah.

Can I use two on parallel ? That would give me 22.2v 6000mah...

Yep, I don't think the bigger packs will fit the Fusion anyway, they won't go under the frames.

Sure, it would make the model a little heavier but for sport flying it wouldn't be a massive problem. What C discharge rating are they?

OK so at 20C on 3000mAh they'd only be capable of giving 60 Amps which would be too low. You'd need 5000mAh 20C or higher so they can deliver up to 100A continuously to be on the safe side.
