Air ,..Thank you :-)

Ok first off excuse me , why ? Well I am a little tipsy , but I did earn it ,lol
I have just been through the weekend of my Life !!!!

Why ? On Friday on the way to AIR my caravan came off my car and I got rear ended by my own caravan (sure to be a good insurance claim !)

Then on day one I crashed , well that's no surprise really :disturbed:

But today I had the flight of my life !!! Sick with worry I flew to music for the first time and when I landed ( sort of ) I heard applause ??? What ?!!

People told me my flight was great ??? Sorry did they watch the wrong one ?
I watched far better pilots than me fly , daring and skilled, young and old they all were awesome way better than me .

I enjoyed my flight but good ? No way, my mission was to get to the end and I did, :-)
Anyway I go to the award ceremony and to my astonishment I won "most inspiration flight" what me ? The 2nd in my class ?? Sorry ?? I was so shocked I couldn't speak ( sorry mike not good at interviews lol)
But you know what really made it for me ?...
Mr Joe Bailey , a year ago, if that we called him " mr tail in" then he decided to enter the Ne grass roots , a quick push had him entering AIR , now Joe is a quiet man , and seriously under values himself , he practiced, learnt and he flew a Big air flight, he won the "big air" trophy and 3 rd in class , his face, total shock , that made the event for me , well done Joe , I told you you rocked :-)

Now as I said I am a little tipsy but I really must say a huge thank you to Air and the team , an awesome event and so well supported by the trade and public alike , real fun and a huge success :-)
I have never seen mattie look so worried , lol but you did it guys, a few short months ago this event was scrapped and you guys , Richie , mattie, ang grant, plus their helpers, made it happen , well done all .

I also must thank all who believed in me , mainly, wives and girlfriends of pilots, my sponsor ,nick rotorcraft rc, and chris at fast lad who after hearing of my crash on Saturday , stripped a kit to give me the one item I needed to fly on Sunday , thank you sir :-)

I am feeling a bit silly now so I will go sleep off my wine , but hey what can I say , model helicopters are my life, the friends, the fun , the tears, but above all the confidence to just be me :-)

Heavens I am going to read this in the morning and feel so stooooopid lol.

I have had the day of my life, one I can remember when I am old and grey .

firstly..well done to Joe on 3rd in the Sports class. Your flight was so smooth and graceful and it made me ( a basic club sport flyer) inspired to continue on my path of steady improvement.

second, you deserved both trophies Rachel...your face when you got the first was only bettered when you got your second :biggrin:

great comp guys and a bloody great weekend...shame i didn't win anything on the mega raffle though but there's always next year :joyous:

Well done Rachel, that second flight and the auto to end with was great to watch. You rightly deserved the 2 prizes you won!!

I had an awesome week end, really enjoyed giving my TDR a little run in the Sportsman group, but annoyed with my self for crossing the flight line on Saturdays flight, thus scoring no points for that flight.

It was great to meet even more new faces like Tony Stevens, Gas Eaves, Chris Jones 2.4, Tom Burgess to name a few.

Much thanks though has to go to my caller Tony (Sesame) Street who warned me if I went near the flight line again in my second flight he would kick me, and also asked during my monster loop "can you still see it"?!! Those TDR's sure loop BIG!!

I'm still buzzing now, what a blast, and I sure as hell will be back for more!!

Well done on the 2nd place Rachel it was well deserved as your Sunday flight was very impressive.

Not sure how you didn't get the big air award Rob, some of those loops and stall turns were massive on Sunday, you must have been wearing strong prescription lenses to see that heli!!!!

Good morning everyone :-) I am still so happy I feel I may be buzzing for several days and posting dizzy rubbish ,lol

I really still can't believe it , I just guess so days the underdog can do well ?!
Maybe just maybe a good flight can be about beauty and entertainment , in my case emotion through music and not just a piro , twisty whatsit .... Not that they are wrong I just don't fly like that .
There are several people in my slightly tipsy state I forgot to thank so here goes,....

Mr Opti , AndyHinton Leaver , always helpfully to everyone with advice and top fuels,

The ultra generous man or woman who gave me the Rave Env I am flying now.

Mr Noel cross who gave me a master class in V Baaaaaa setup .

One young Ashley moon , who helped along with my club mates repair my Rave after day one , I owe you a flight with my wing , sorry it just didn't happen over the weekend .

And

Everyone who flys these toys ( lol) you guys and girls make this hobby and just remember we may fly at comps and shows but it's you who come and support us that make it happen , we just turn up pay a few pounds and get to be stars ( in our own minds) for a few moments in time.

And of course the clubs and organisers that give up their fields and time so we can fly .

It was an absolute pleasure to meet both you and various guys from the forum - finally put faces to names!

Your 2 trophies were very well deserved! you had a truly great flight on Sunday after the slight mishap on SaturdaY.

Pity the weather wasn't better on Saturday but all told We had an absolutely fantastic weekend that will be the tpic of conversation for some time.

Took Lucy to school this morning and she's still going on about the 'heli coffin' and the Goblin..lol

Like I said, you nailed that second flight Rachel, and I knew that had put you high up in the standings, was entertaining and great to watch.
Ashley was happy to help, I think you almost had a inherited son for the weekend, at least we knew where he was and was not wondering the whole site.
I was pleased with my result to since I have hardly flown this year, and I let rip on my demo slot, still buzzing now and can't wait till next year.
Hoping Ashley is keen again, and maybe he can fly in sportsman next year
