Virtual Porting

Something for the computer people here.

I've been trying to stream Video from youtube in the US but due to my location here in rainy England it's refusing to allow it.

Is there any way to make my PC appear as if it's in the US to let me stream from US based sites?

You just need a US based proxy.

Just as simple as that. I use a UK proxy while in Spain to be able to watch UK TV on the Laptop.

Using a proxy is just like man-in-the-middle. So no banking, email, etc. You can also use a vpn. I use private tunnel £12 for 50gb. And as as added bonus you can still use thepiratebay.se and use to get around firewalls at work for youtube Facebook etc ;)

I use "Ex-pat Shield" when I'm abroad with work to watch BBC ITV & Sky Go etc.

Thats what I now use. I used to pay for VPN UK. Ex-pat is FREE, but has ads.

Just curious, what speed does that support?

i was looking to start offering a service awhile back, completely dedicated hardware per customer and zero logging. Basically for allowing people to remain anonymous for torrenting etc. I was looking at charge around that price but with unrestricted download but max speed I could get from the hardware was around 10mbps.

Does VPN uk work the other way. I know it works from outside the uk to uk but I want to go from uk to us. Couldn't find a concrete answer on the web site.

Will take a closer look tonight to see what I can get sorted. There's far to much stuff being restricted by country now. Bring back the good old days of the net where half the people had no idea what was going on.

By the looks of it they have servers in a multitude of countries, It should work fine as long as you have some way of selecting a US proxy.
