  • tubeless tyre help please

Thought I'd mow some lawn but the ride-on has a flat.
I finally figured how to get the wheel off and it's tubeless.
    Removed the huge thorn.
There was a bottle of unopened sealer stuff left by the previous owner..instructions to remove valve, shove 400 mls in and reinflate.
(Of course that meant making a valve removal tool first)
Anyway done that but it's leaking around the valve assembly itself (valve to rim)
I've seen these pulled through violently on car tyres when replaced with a long grippy lever thing but assumed it would seat itself when reinflated (went to 80lbs)
I've tried hauling on it with pliers and leavering underneath the pliers with a screwdriver to get more force.. then reinflating.. still leaks around there.
Any ideas? I've left it pumped up hoping the sealant stuff might do it too..

(having pratted around for 2 hrs getting frustrated now)

The goo stuff in the tin is pretty crap most of the time it don't work.
The only way to get new valve in is from inside the tyre so it would have to come off or a least be knocked off the rim.
best bet really is to get a tube for it now or a repair but usually the don't like repairing when they had goo in.

This particular goo does state it doesn't prevent further repairs.. for what that's worth.
The thing is I have no reason to believe the valve was iffy before - just loosened when i was messing- there was a huge thorn.

If no simple solution then i'll run it into the agri place am and let then sort it.. but the number of punctures on this farm it'd be nice to fix one myself...

Without the right tools it's hard to do the job.You can can get plug kits which a easy to use but you would need some tools still.
I know the Rac have a repair kit for motorcycles which I think plugs the hole from the outside
I know it's not much help this time but may be an idea for next time and would save mucking around with the valve.

I didn't muck about with the valve beyond removing the inner bit for access..just the whole unit spontaneously loosened in the rim..may even have done so running flat before i noticed.
I had planned on getting a tubeless repair kit though last time the quad bike had a flat and I tool the wheel in there were so many thorns in it they used a sealer compound instead anyway.
Getting wheel off the rim isn't an issue ..got some long irons after all the punctures on tractor front tyres last year (they're tubed)... not that i could cope with a tractor back wheel!!! (which are ballasted full of water too)
