  • Parkzone Sukhoi Su-26m Plank BNF & DX6i

Well i took my new MSRx into the field next to my house yesterday and used 6 batteries on it until bad light stopped play, it was brilliant, it flies really well, it's a bit twitchy sometimes but i think that's down to the bog-standard TX it came with. I'm new to flying and to be honest it was only my second outing/flight.

I have read many many threads about getting a good TX so i have purchased a DX6i which is on it's way as i type. i used to have all the kit (dx6i & raptor 30v2 etc..but had to sell it all after a break-up) i never got to fly the raptor. so it's back to square 1 again....and i'm going to learn propperly, i have put in many hours on the phoenix and am quite compitent with heli's & planks. so when i was looking for a TX i stumbled across a Parkzone Sukhoi so i bought that as well......i had done some homework and the general consensus is that the Sukhoi is a good little machine.

I was looking to get a hobbyzone 'cub' to train on....but hey........what you gonna do...i am watching a couple of cub's so i may go for one as well...

Any of your tips or experiences with these machines would be great

Am i right in saying that the DX6i Will control all these flying machines? the cub will need a new RX as the old models didnt have 2.4ghz radios

Any of your thoughts are welcome, kind regards ade.
I WOULD BE PATIENT.......IF I HAD THE TIME!!!

If its the blue and yellow Sukhoi, that runs of 165mah 1S lipos, then its quite a handful :)

Great fun, but not much good if you havent flown planks before in real life... something more sedate like a cub will serve you well for a little while...

Thanks for that, yes lol...i know its a bit of a beast so i will have it in trainer mode on the TX for a while....i think i will plump for a 'cub' as well to get some 'air-time' in

I wouldnt say beast, just very very twitchy, you need to have quick 'second nature' reflexes with that one....

I made a tail skid from thin piano wirefor mine which stops the tail wheel touching the ground, as it is prone to snapping off the tail fin if the wheel gets caught in a rut or grass. It isa mighty twitchy plane and needs the C of G spot on or it is even more of a handful, if needs be make it slightly nose heavy as a tail heavy plane does not last long!!

i let someone have a go on mine after they had learnt the basics of the ember, straight into the wall, so tame it down with expo and turning rates down etc :)

Also worth getting the c of g right by playing with the battery in the tray. Set dual rates at 60 for ail and play with elev till your happy. You can also get away without rudder on it if needed.

              Mine didn't last long.

Mines still flying after 2 to 3 years now....

Its had a little foam safe CA applied over that time though..

                and cellotape

                and more foam CA

I disagree reduce the rates to about 80% and increase Expo to about 20% on aileron, elevator and rudder and its a very gentle little flyer! taught my little brother to fly with it :)
