  • A huge thank you to this amazing group! Real club spirit right here.

This is a bit belated as I've been mad busy lately sorting things out.

As some may know, we had a little accident at the Eagle FunFly with my commercial Hexa. The end result was a busted (and very expensive!) gimbal and a big ole' dent in my pride.

This happened the day before we were to travel to North Wales to complete a big job for a client and with no end in sight, I was pretty distraught.

Luckily for me there were a number of people on-site who frankly saved my ass!

We had our very own Haydn there who somehow believed that he could fix the gimbal back to how it was! I didn't get a picture, but it was knackered. Broken carbon legs, camera tray bent. A pure mess.

Then - Jason Platts stepped up and told me that he could lend me the exact same gimbal! All we would need to do would be to put his gimbal on my hexa, electronics from mine in to there and we're all set!

Honestly - I could not believe my luck!

Jason absolutely went above and beyond for me! Due to a couple of problems, we ended up eventually leaving his club house where we were doing the work at about 3:30am! Bearing in mind that his house is somewhere near Barnsley (?) and we had to be in Llandudno at 07:30am...

Pic here at Jasons place at around 2am! Already 6 hours in....

After a crazy drive we eventually got there!

Haydn did indeed manage to fix my gimbal! (See photos). He is some sort of wizard with his technical mind! He did a great job and the gimbal works great

Everyone rallied round to try to help me in any way they could and I genuinely appreciate it!

On the basis of this I would like to nominate Jason and Haydn (UBF & VOLT?) for an EGS please Boggy if you read this!

    --------------

Now for the technical bit. When problem solving as to why the Hexa crashed a connector was found to have a solder connection that was basically a disaster. A quick tug and it basically fell apart. Problem solved! Or was it??

Whilst this was a problem waiting to happen - it is not why she went in...

Can anyone spot the problem here? (Shot courtesy of LFX Productions) -

This is a text-book case of getting distracted before a takeoff. Not something that we will repeat again!

Lesson learnt on this one and hugely embarrasing for me!

I just wanted to reiterate again my huge thanks to Haydn, Jason, Chris, Lee, and everyone else who helped me over those few days! They went above and beyond to help me and I genuinely do appreciate it!

Moral of the story? - Plug the bloody connector in!!

    Cheers

    Dani

Is there supposed to be an unplugged connector on the left hand side of the hexa?

Was gutted to see this go in, I have footage of it going in but I wince everytime I see it and it's going in the "unlucky" bin. These things happen mate and hopefully you will learn from it and move forward. My first big job (Air) I got all the way to Telford realising I'd left all my camera batteries at home, some 165 miles away.......learnt a few things that day!

Both Haydn and Jason are complete legends. Much respect to both for getting you to your job with a working hexadoofer.
