Also I agree with the feedback idea.
I use AV Forums allot and the 'for sale section' it's the tightest sale place I have used to date! And it works great!

      Illegal activity?.....lol.
Yes, and it is one of the problems with eBay too. Several times I have asked a question and got a reply that I know everyone would like to know but the seller has failed to make it public. On one occasion, I was asking about a heli that was advertised as "Genuine Align" but it wasn't. I asked some questions and got the reply that it was a HK heli with some Align parts. Clearly his advert was misleading but short of reporting him there was no way I could make it known that his listing was misleading. If I could have asked that question in public then his reply would then be known to everyone.

As for feedback... that is useful but past performance is no guarantee of future performance. It is just a guide.

The thing is though, this isnt Ebay is it?
The for sale section originally came about for members to sell off their old items and help out other new members. The thing is now... we have people that are deliberately ramping up there posts (useless information) in order to reach the 50 posts count rule. All just so that they can sell on here.
Im also of the opinion that i can sell my stuff to who ever i want. I dont have to sell it to the first person that contacts me. For one i might not feel comfortable selling to a newbie over a long standing member.
One of my next pet hates is that if anything goes wrong with a sale then its almost like the forum is held responsible. Ive always been happy to help sort out problems in the forsale section. And i have solved many of them personally with a phone call here and there or acting as a middle man (its usually all it takes tbh).
The new rules should avoid alot of this stuff and also because its all done privately via pm then the forum is not dragged into it. Any problems can be sorted in the background where the rest cannot see.

This whole "50 post count" for sale thing annoys me sometimes. I know its there for a reason, but sometimes it just stops us getting parts we want at cheap prices.

When I built my first race car, I had an entire mint condition MX5 interior as well as other parts that I just wanted rid of. The dump wouldnt take them as they considered it commercial waste. I went on to an MX5 forum and spent some time reading threads and positing etc so I could put the stuff up on there. I advertised a pair of seats for £10. A full carpet for £5. You get the gist.

My advert was taken down and I was banned because I was perceived as spamming the forums just so I could sell my wares.

The MX5 community missed out on several very good condition parts from an older car for ridiculously cheap prices. It all went in a skip.

The thing is... with under 50 posts your hardly a member round here IMO. Technically you are but i think you know what i mean. Now i know alot do more reading then posting but you have to be part of the place to be a member dont ya think?
I agree with you maybe the MX5 community missed out on that one but unfortunately the rules are there for a reason. Spamming is one of them (obviously they got it wrong that time). I can only speak for the team on here though (i dont think that would have happened here). You could have also pm'd an admin/mod to explain the situation.

Yeah I know what you mean, its a hard one to police. I know what you mean about not being a member but IMO theres nothing wrong with people only coming here to sell parts, so long as they are genuine. If the buyers take the stance of "buyer beware" and take obvious precautions (E.g not doing direct bank transfers to people they dont know/trust) then it wont be an issue.

I did PM an admin on that site, when I put my ad up someone posted something along the lines of "51 posts and a for sale ad?"

I explained the situation that I just wanted rid of the parts and it was a shame to bin them and their response was "why dont you list them as free then?"

That was the only condition he would allow them to stay on there. I Explained that I'm not going to post out big bulky heavy parts and pay for packing etc, or stay at home all day on a saturday waiting for people to turn up to collect decent parts for free, but he wouldn't have it. Then I think I called him some unsavoury names and deleted my account

And yes, illegal. For my sins I have to work with procurement specialists on a regular basis. And it is a breach of contract. And if you think it doesn't affect private individuals you are sadly mistaken. It may not be worth pursuing but even to say that it's sold constitutes a contract.

Please be more respectful in your replies.

Ps. I agree with the feedback idea.
Not strictly true, the seller can still back out (i have had this done to me). Got a refund, accepted and moved on.

not intending to be disrepectful, i just dont think getting into contract law is, in reality, relevent to selling heli's / parts on this forum.

I agree. There is no point in getting into contract law. But, and this is the last thing I will say on this, laws in this country are grounded in what, as a nation, we accept as being morally correct. And before anyone picks up on this, we all know that the law has a hell of a time keeping up with this.

Anyhow. This is all interesting conjecture.

Im with ya buddy, its a shame about that. Only thing i would say to that is we need to protect the majority (ie the member) over a non member (someone that only goes on a forum to sell stuff). The forum is far more than just a place to sell stuff.
Speaking about rcheliaddicts... This place is quite a tight nit community. We all look after each other. In the flesh and online. Unfortunately as with anywhere you need to kinda earn the right of a respected member. That only comes from helping people and posting.
Hoping you can see where im coming from here :-)
