Sales sections are pretty simple to police.

You ban replies from anyone other than those interested to buy. No comments allowed questioning price, not chit chat. On a shooting forum I use, if you question a price, i.e say you can get it 'here' cheaper, you'll get suspended for a few days, do it again and you'll get banned. Not allowing replies is crazy.

Why can't there be a set up on the forums that, every two days the sale thread will be bumped automatically to the top, also when someone replies on a sale add, that thread want get bumped to the top?

Been done didn't work people are just to twisty and are unable to behave.

An announcement is coming soon the mods have a post to read through first then I can re post to the members its more than just for sale that's changing.

There are times when a legitimate question is asked, and the answer would benefit all, including the person asking the question. Doing it by PM means that you dont get that benefit.

Doing it via PM also leaves the system open to abuse.

I once offered the asking price for a part for my car in a thread. The offer was accepted, then I was then told it wasnt available any more. The next day some other bloke was gloating about how he got the same part for his car.

Through some photo analysis etc he showed of fitting it, it turned out it was the part I should of had, and I heard on the grape vine he offered a higher price over PM just to secure the part. I was severely miffed obviously!

If a question is asked via pm and the seller considers that it would be of interest to others , they can always edit the original post to include this info.

I welcome the changes, I was one of the first to suggest it. Since being back into Helis, I have conducted all of my buying off here through the PM system, and have had great results.

i was one of those who initially suggested this system some time ago. i have seen this exact change in other forums and trust me it works.
Not many people will do a number on someone with regards to pm offers and if they do then you are probably better out of it with them anyway. most peeps are of a good integrity and word is bond stuff.
if someone asks an important and worthwhile question then i am sure most will amend original ads.
no one likes change but let it happen and see where it goes is what i say

Also what you have to remember mods and Admin can access your PM's, so if there is a discrepancy, just contact the team and they will have all the facts at their disposal to make a call should it be needed.

Just to put that statement right Kev, mods dont have access to pms. Only persons with Admin rights can do this. And FWIW it is not something we would do, we class it as a very last resort. Members can always forward their pms though if we come across problems.
Generally 95% + of the forum members abide by the gentlemans rule of offering a refund if the buyer is not happy. This means the problems that we do get involved with are relatively rare. Most of the problems we have been seeing are more down to people not respecting each others for sale adverts. General chat bumping adverts etc etc The rules will avoid all this and allow more time to be spent on more useful moderating.
