  • Futaba FF9 or JR PCM 9X What are your thoughts guys??????

    Hi all

I was hoping that you (the collective you of course) could give me your views of the Futaba FF9 and JR 9X
    Transmiters

I am trying to choose between the two and can only come up with price as being the difference.

Oh and futaba have a much better manual!!

From what i can gather from the magazines the 9X seems to be used by more of the well known pilots when you compare to the FF9 is there an advantage to the JR system.

    Any thoughts ??

    Cheers

    Wazzer

p.s. Stuart did you receive that e-mail from me with the attachment it was rather large!!

JR/Futaba - there is nothing to choose between them for reliablity. It comes down to the group your flying with - "What are they flying " - because that's where your think tank is.

    ps FUTABA RULES !!!
If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

I used Futaba from the Attack 2 through to the FF7, FF8 and now have the FF9. Very happy with it. As you say, it boils down to personal preference and, if you are a newbie, what your club uses. Can't go wrong with either although I think the JR stuff is slightly more expensive.

The new updated JR9X manual is on the server now for downloading, thanks for that.

With regards to the 9C or JR9X, I too had to make this decision when replacing my FF8.

I opted for the Jr mainly because at the time I didn't use a GV-1 and I wanted more curve points and the JR has 7 while the 9C only came with 5.

Personally I don't think there is much between them. Maybe like Dave say's factors such as what it is used at your club will prove beneficial.

I know what you mean about the manual, but for me as I cheated and imported a Japanese version, which came with a Japanese manual. So I had no choice but too programme it blind. It took less than 15mins a total doddle.

Granted you don't get the GV-1 Screen as you do with the Futaba, but doesn't mean you can't use a Gv-1 or Throttle Jockey on a JR as I do. I've got plenty of pics in my gallery for the JR.

Please note though that mine does not have certain functions that a UK version does i.e. mode isn't swappable (mode 2) only and a couple of other minor things.
        Cheers
        Stuart

            I also agree with Dave.
I have been a futaba user for over thrity years but thats only because the crew I learned to fly rc with all had futaba rest of the club had dodgiefleet
My ff9 is only the third tx i've owned.

              Thanks guys

I think you have helped me make my mind up.

The guys at my local flyng club all use the eclipse 7 set and I wanted somting better than that, that would last me longer.

Also I live about 5 hours drive away from them so will be going it alone most of the time!!!!!

It will be quicker to get help and feed back from you guys on the net than to get help from my club plus they are all also beginners and i already think that i know more than them through the shear amout of research i have done. (I now that sounds arrogant but you havent met thease guys!!)

They obviously have much more flying experience but when it comes down to the actual mechanics of every thing i have seen better prepared Pizzas for flying, no wonder thay crash all the time!!

But still its fun to learn from other peoples mistakes. I dsent cost as much!!

Perhaps i wont be quite so judgemental when i get my own Heli in the air!!!!!

With your feed back and with the thought that the Futaba Manual is much better for a newbie i think it will be the FF9 Hurah a decision (youve no idea how hard that was!!)

              Many thanks

Good choice, I have always used Futaba and my FF9 is my 3rd Tx. Easy to use, seems simpler than the JR but I have only dabbled with a mates 3810.

                    Hi Gyro

I will most definatley be buying it in Singapore in the near future from www.rotor.com.sg

The prices are so much better plus its very close to where i live so postage will not be a problem.

I have decided to go for the FF9 as i have had some very good response not just from this site but generaly. The support from futaba is very good the manuals are very good and its cheaper than the JR the only draw back is that i will have to get a new adaptor lead for my Flight sim!!

                    Cheers

I'm also after the FF9, but Rotor.com haven't had any 35mhz in stock for a while now.

Happy shopping, let me know if you find one!

The word on the street is that the UK Distributors are fighting back and there may not be many more 35mhz sets to be had from Hong Kong.

I've Recently had an e-mail that rotor.com.sg have 35Mghz sets available
oh well we'll see how long it takes for one to arrive.

Not really in a position to buy just yet the girlfriend has pointed out that we need to buy a car first and then rent a house and furnish it!!!!

Dont you hate it when they get all practical on on you!!

Well at least looking for a new car is fun!!!

The heli will just have to wait a bit longer.

Good luck with the FF9 Gyro.
