I've sent off for BMFA insurance etc and have browsed the online lists of clubs (without much luck) but not many have decent contact details, or are located in obscure places (not near mainline rail stations, my main mode of transport)

If anyone lives in S or SW London that wishes to carshare to a venue then I am happy to offer petrol money / heli gas as payment.

I have sent you a PM with some info that might be helpful to you as i'm based in Wimbledon and have also been looking for a club/people to fly with.

I have just come accross this thread and i must say that i am very suprised!!

I have been visiting this site for a few months and Mo has been one of those who has been the first to offer help and advice, and very sage advice it is.

Not to mention his very caustic wit, those who havent yet should read gyro's thread "Gyro's whats the difference?".
Very very amusing and Gyro gave as good as he got!!

Who will provide the amusment now!!!

I think we should start a Save The Mo campagne.

If we all chip in i will get some tshirts printed and you can all wear them at you local clubs. If we raise the awarness we may be able to start a heli only club next door to where Mo lives, only people with positive mental attitudes need apply.

Come on Mo cant you see how many people are interested in saving your sanity, decorating the house and mowing the lawn couldnt possibly be as mentally stimulating as watching about a grands worth of equipment flyng around the sky wating to cost you a fortune in repairs!!!.
Next thing you know the high light of your day will be Richard Whitely and Count Down (Mind you some of my older friends tell me that Carol Vordaman is the thinking mans crumpet!!!)

        Or

You could get yourself one of thease indor helis get a web cam and start an internet flying club.
each person could get a projector and screen and then fly your own model infront of it with the others flying projected onto it.
You could fly with people from all over the world.!!
I could fly with you from Borneo!!

We brits didnt Collonise the world by giving up (all though we did get ourselves into a bit of bother afterwards)
So show us a bit of that stiff upper lip and lets have a corus of "We Shall Overcome!"
        (You are british arent you?)

In all seriousness please do not stop reading and posting on this site I for one as a newbie have learnt many things from you and your advice is always very practicle a resonable.
I look forward to reading your replys when i see someone post an intersting thread.

So dont even consider rasing the ratings of Countdown and give Richard Whitely another reason to buy an awful tie and rehearse his terrible jokes.

So all those in Favour of the Save The Mo Campagne and the Positive Mental Attitude Flying Club, Say I.

        Cheers Ben

          Hey Mo
Don't go, I have only just met you. I have no club nearby.Have yet to get my heli off the deck(still trying to finish building it!!) and would know even less than I do now if it wasn't for people like you that answer the sometimes stupid questions posted by us beginners. I must be the worst, but am just too scared to face up to it and ask. I search this site each day in hope that someone else asks that, which has bothered me.
Why do the fixed wing guys dislike us? Do we dislike them?
          Stay with us Mo.
          Mack

Thought I was finished with the crashing thing!!

              Hello lads.

Many thanks chaps', for your well aimed kick up the backside, and you have succeeded in making me feel a right quitter.
You must have all guessed that I am getting on in years, and you yourself will find out later in life the effects of what advancing age can do to you.
If I can give a small example of this to Ben',who spoke about Carol Vorderman as being crumpet, the only crumpet that will now turn me on, is indeed the one placed under a grill, and then I am too worn out to eat it.
Have no fear I have no intention of not being a part of "rcheliaddicts"for I can assure you my mind is still very young in some area's, and I really get a kick out of being an active part of this site, and also hope I have made a few friends in the process.
As I have stated, the reasons for my being a chicken was due to the fact of my joining a very poor club, and in my making this mistake really gave me a lot of unwanted agro, apart from the trials of keeping a heli in the air,and I was not having fun.
I have now sold my best heli, but retained my old machine, and after much urging from my wife, and other far more sensible people of this forum, I have committed myself to joining another local club that is far more sympathetic to the helicopter, in fact I have flown again on a couple of occasions just to sound myself out, but I must tell you the truth that I was not overwhelmed with my flying, for to me I was going backwards not getting better.
This could have been due to rust, but I have now decided on a make or break decision over what I should do, and I will reveal all at a later date.
Thanks again you great chaps for all your concern, and if I do disappear from the forum for a while,it will be either that another like Gyro has given me a bloody nose,or my wife has finally caught me in the hobby room on the laptop, when I should have been making the beds.
              GOOD FLYING.
              Mo.

Keep up that determination to succeed Mo....glad to hear you caught some air time too..

Keep watching you may have the chance to buy a bells and whistle Hornet II, as the oldest is trying hard for a Caliber 30 since he caught the ad with the price drop in the last mag.

He's hoping Santa has a big box this Xmas, the misses on the other hand is dreading two heli nutters in the house.
                Cheers
                Stuart

Hello Mo - Just read this post, and as a flyer with less than a week under my belt don't feel that qualilfied to reply as I don't know you, however this has caused me some concern so here's my 2p.

I've invested now into what has been up to now an interest, so it's now my hobby. I plan to be great, having seen the 3D master's DVD I wanna be that good, if not better. What I would not want to think is that I'm entering a scene of plank/heli competition/rivalry/animosity at clubs. If I do see these, being new to the scene, I can ask questions fundamental to this problem and let people see the error's of their ways and grow up perhaps. I'd hate to think my new, exciting, most excellent hobby is going to be spoilt by a few small minded people without the social intelect to get on.

On an aside, you're in Kent, isn't Eynesford a heli only club as I've been told at Avicraft? Wouldn't that be an idea?

                  Regards

                  Bibs

                    Hello Mo

This reply is also very late as I have also only just discovered this forum.

I started flying a Shuttle in 1998 and for three years through steady progress started flying circuits. I invested in a new Shuttle and then had children and took an awful decision to give up flying helicopters.

This decision was brought about in a similar way to yourself in that on a Sunday there would only be two of us up the field. When I joined there were 8 or 9 on any Sunday!! As a result the club folded and we had to pay per fly which cost me too much and I sold all my gear.

Now I realise that I regret and still regret that desicion and really wished I had mothballed the kit so I could start again.

I intend to start again and I am delighted to find this forum and look forward to advise from yourself and others about picking up the stocks after a three yer break.

                    All the best

                    Mark

                      Hi Bibs.

You most certainly sound like you have committed yourself to this hobby and I wish you well, I just hope your purse is as deep as that great determination you appear to have for both can be severely tested at times.
I have moved on from those dark days of that previous post, but the story of why this happened would end up with me writing a book, I can only tell you that my mentality has changed overnight with what I was attempting with helicopters, and I am now enjoying my flying like nothing else mattered.
You are quite right about the Eynsford club and I did in fact once receive the entry form to join this band of heli fliers, unfortunately this would have meant quite a bit of extra travelling for me and for that reason I looked closer to home, I then found another club that was more helicopter minded than my own just ten miles away, and have now successfully joined that club as well and as still retaining my membership of the old one.
You have that great element of youth on your side Bibs; you can set your sights, and I sincerely hope you get there in the end, for I would be delighted to see you competing at shows in the future.
I can only do what a man of my age can expect to do, but I have now also learnt to forget my limitations and to just go to our field for the fun this sport brings, and I am more than happy to tell you that my flying has improved with that different frame of mind.
I am now the proud owner of two moskito sports helicopters, and a vario airwolf.
To Mark I also give my best wishes, and I hope he keeps us well posted with how he gets on.
                      GOOD LUCK.
                      GOOD FLYING.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, ESPECIALLY TO RECENT DADS.
                      Mo.

And can I apologise for the rubbish spelling at the end of my previous post.
