  • Question: Mounting a Futaba GY401 & NHP boom mount kit

I have 2 questions that I hope someone can help me out with...

First, I have a Gy401 gyro for my new Raptor and am wondering whether I should use 1 or more of the foam pads to mount it. The foam mounting tape looks very thin in comparison to my CSM400 foam and indeed my original non HH gyro so am a little confused...

Second, I have the NHP boom mount kit for the rudder servo and am a little confused on mounting. I have attached the carbon mount to the main frame and have mounted the 9254 servo so the servo arm is almost central below the boom. This appears to give the carbon push rod free movement in all positions but is this correct ?

    Thanks in advance

You only use 1 foam you get a spare in the kit so if you need to move it or replace it due to fuel residue soakage.

The NHP simply attaches to the bottom two bolts of the frame where it clamps the boom, a long as the arm rotates freely you'll be okay. Note though in the instructions you should get a new bolt for your tail case and you have to sand down with a dremel the bottom outer surround of the bolt down to the new nut head, this will give the rod 100% free movement without any binding.

Look here and you will see Philip Hendersons NHP installation at the frame end.

      Thanks again Stuart

I have mounted the tail servo in the same way as the picture so guess I was right. I have not sanded down the bolt on the tail casing as it is not fouling the pushrod (did not fancy doing that anyway). If there is any binding once all completed (i.e. I have fitted the servo arms) then I may add some spacers to move the servo out a little...

The instructions for the 401 show only 1 layer of foam but was just checking to be 100% sure
