  • OS32F engine trouble

im really annoyed with my engine, it was running ok until the other day i altered the low range needle to improve tick over, now i cant find a middle setting. ill start it and then when i take the glow adapter off itll stopuntil i lean it up enough so that its not choking the plug, then ill fly it and then when i land ill try and drop the revs to make a change to the main needle to give me a better run in the hover and the engine wont drop enough to stop the rotors, i keep on moving the trim down, it has no effect and then suddenly the engine stops, and i then have to richen it up to start it, then lean it off and it all happens again.
So to recap whenever i lean it off it wont slow the engine down without stopping and when i richen it up the engine stops when i take the glow adapter off, what can i do?
    Can anyone diagnose the problem?
The plug is a new os A3

Been running O.S. engines for years - never got one to tick over well.
When ever I got the engine running really well in flight I found that the tick over was always on the rich side.
To recap to get the 32's to fly well the tick over is usually on the rich side - this is more obvious on start up when the engine is cold.
It sounds like the bottom end of your motor is lean this will affect the flying.

I've found that if you adjust the bottom end mixture, you have to adjust the top end as well. This is the method I used on my fixed wing engines. I know it's difficult with a heli, but try adjusting the main mixture a click or two either way after getting the bottom end idling ok.

      Hope this helps.
