  • Where Are You? A Location Map for RC Heliaddict Pilots

I've set up a new "private" RC Heliaddict Location Map for any of you that would like to see where other pilots (mad people) are.

You can then see at a glance if there is someone else that lives near to you so that you can set up local meets etc. This map is not "published" so is not searchable and can only be seen by those that are invited to see it (ie those that have the link).

My info is already set up as a guide.

I Hope you find this useful. Just go to this link, register and complete your entry then "bookmark" the page and visit it from time to time, you details will then appear on the map for others to see (only you can edit the info):

I'm convinced we used to have one of these as part of the site infrastructure, but I haven't seen it for a while now.

Edit: not just my imagination! http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/announ...-location.html

Would be good to have it again in whichever form.

Now, the question is, should we add our home, work or flying sites ?

I've added home and flying site. . . . . you're welcome for a coffee at home, if you can find the number
        Janek

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

Great Idea!!! Personally I think it would be better to get Stuart to set this up as part of the heli addict site so that it can be secured by our forum usernames and passwords (if this is possible). Butuz

What would be nice would be a separate map (or option) to show club sites and/ or public flying sites, so if you're traveling you can find a likely place to get your fix

              Janek,

Congrats on being the first (well apart from me) to put your details on the map.

Good idea about "flying sites" so I've added a category for these with a new icon so that they are easily identifiable. (I've amended yours to show the new icon).

              Cheers,
              Simon

I've now changed the Flying Site to show two options - private and public. This should help.

                Cheers,

It wasn't re-installed when I did the last upgrade - and I wasn't going to as the RCHA has one which would be for clubs - for members I was going to wait for the latest version of vbulletin to be released which is yet to be seen though its just be released on pre-sale at nearly $300.00
                  Cheers

Well I've stuck a pin in for me.
No flying site here as such, except for Clapham common where I go. Ok for small electrics.

Not that it's a bad idea, but be aware of privacy if you pin your home on an online map - and happen to have lots of heli details on your forum signature, etc...

                      Just a thought
                      Cheers,

perhaps just type in your town or town you live closest to - don't enter in your exact post code.

                          Gav,

You can elect to just just place a position on the map - so if you want to you could select somewhere "close - ish" to your location.

                          Cheers,
                          Simon

Great idea, I can feel a few road trips coming on!

Maybe Stuart could "Sticky" this somewhere?

I zoomed all the way out and I have to say, I admire your dedication Tiddler!
Thats one hell of a journey from the coast of West Africa to Clapham Common! Is there nowhere nearer? Ghana or Nigeria maybe?

Must be a bitch getting spares delivered!
