So…. I have finally got the 700n i bought from Maj set up. It has taken a few weeks due to weather and availability of my Nitro savvy flying friend to help clue me up on the practical side of how to fill it, start it, stop it… all the basics really. I was fairly apprehensive having never had anything to do with Nitro, plus not knowing a thing about engines, fuel, glow plugs etc. But I'm finding it all straight forward so far. Enough to get by anyway.
I have only ever flown electric. So had no idea what people really meant when talking about the "magic" or "soul" of Nitro. I get it now. To be honest i got it fairly instantly after taking off for the first time. It is an entirely different experience. I think soul is probably the most appropriate word to describe it. It is just more exciting overall imo so far.
The 7.30 min flight times at 2000rpm are quite frankly totally alien to me. I am so used to 4 minute flights that i am having to get used to having the extra flight time. Which sounds odd i know. But its great because i find it is pushing my creativity more than usual to keep me properly focused throughout the whole flight. I instinctively know when 4 mins has elapsed, at which point I'm not content to just effectively do the same flight again for the remaining time. So it is opening up my active repertoire of moves and transitions. Effectively improving my flying.
I love the power delivery. It feels more "alive" and also much more manageable. I am finding it easier to be very precise with the collective and make nice dynamic changes that seem effortless compared to electric. The engine does not bog at all providing you use it properly in my experience so far. The O.s 105Hz-r with the Funtech pipe sounds amazing
I am loving it
so much fun. Perfect timing with the cold weather too as my packs won't be happy running in the temps we have right now.
