In piroetting manoeuvres in the simulator (Phoenix), I find the timing is different to what happens when flying for real. I only notice it in the faster piro rates, there's no difference in the slower stuff. I set the piro rates the same, so I assume it's a lag difference between the two.
I imagine the sim is reacting realtime, whereas the helicopter has lag due to servo speed, etc. If I'm compensating for the helicopter lag, I could be learning habits that don't apply with a quicker helicopter setup.
What do you think, try another sim, try another heli? Will I notice less difference with a higher speed servos?
