I feel safer flying on my own. Accidents are less likely. Agreed a serious accident can be a problem as it could be impossible to find help.

How far away do you propose?

Just recently, my CC Talon 90 de-soldered 2 of 3 of its bullet connectors less than 30secs into the first flight of the day, luckily whilst I was flying away, causing a total lack of control (even though I had done all the pre-flight stick twirls and gentle piro's), if I had been at the top of a big loop when that went, and it was pointing in the wrong direction, who knows what damage 3kgs (ish) of unguided mass with a Kenwood chef on the roof would do if it hit anybody (God forbid) or anything.

We fly fast dangerous but generally capable things, I also drive a fast & dangerous but very capable car (not me fast and dangerous lol), how far should I keep away from everything/everybody?

If you are putting yourself at risk then so be it, you know the risks (as do base jumpers, divers, racing drivers, rock climbers, crossing the road etc), just don't put others needlessly at risk!


Notwithstanding my comments above, my condolences go to the family of the poor guy who died. RIP
