No, they were going to fly a plank. These terrorist types aren't smart enough to fly helicopters.

I am concerned about the use of Multi-copters for terrorist activities though. Good load carrying capabilities, stabilisation, GPS and FPV. Its only a matter of time...

The paragraph in the report that is concerning me:

The suspects had been under surveillance for more than a year and authorities had recently detected "an increased interest in explosives and model aircraft", according to an unnamed security source quoted by a German news agency.

The term "model aircraft" includes planks, heli, quads etc and it's clear from the piece that the security services are fully aware of the possible use of these as explosives delivery systems. With the ever increasing sophistication and load carrying capabilities of these "model aircraft" coupled with the reducing costs and availability I think it's only a matter of time before we will see stricter controls. Unfortunately these controls won't just be for certain types but will eventually encompass all flying models.

It'll be interesting to see if your post gets moved to off the topic like mine did yesterday?

          http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/off-to...tack-plot.html

I personally feel it merits being in the main discussions forum but I understand why it was moved.

It's sad to see but tbh I very much doubt it will ever get as far as controls or restrictions on your average model flyer,

            Cell phone detonators
            Radio detonators
            ROV's (not arial)
            Half the products in Maplins

All these can and have been used for bad things, where are the controls on these?
Just because something can be used doesn't mean they can suddenly clamp down on the entire industry.

A few weeks ago some of these morons were jailed for planning to use RC cars to drive bombs under the security gates at my local TA Centre in Luton....
