  • Trex 450 Problems

I am hovering at about 2 to 3 meters and now and again it suddenly drops with no input from me. I have to put a fair bit of power on to counteract it. Any ideas

    Thanks

    Hi,
could this be attributed to wind/battery power ?

Whats the spec? What parts are you using?

Is it 3gx version 3.0 with an on board BEC?

Happens with both no wind and wind conditions

          Delarado,
Its a 450 plus flybar model . Came as a RTF.

I purchased 2 batteries with it with Deans connectors already on and then got a further 2 batteries which I soldered the Deans on, but it happens with every battery.

+ 1 on this, you don't need very much wind on a 450 for this to happen. It could also be a pitch issue, it may just need fine tuning on pitch curve.

This happened to me once, next thing the heli dropped like stone. This was due to slipping motor pinion. Align motor 450MX does not have a notch on the motor shaft, so if you do not make your own (with Dremel or similar tool) it will be prone to slipping.

Had this on my 250 it turned out to be bad connection to the motor , check all the connection to ESC and motor , make sure the motor connection are insulated no chance of shorting between connections , the throttle connection to rxer is in solid.

This seems like a good call.
My 450 dfc has been doing this but I'm 100% it's just twitching with wind however every now and again I can here a metallic squeal for a second.
Could this be a bearings issue?

seems there are a few of us with this problem. Is it just the RTF models?
                      Mines the 450 DFC.

Does the head speed drop, or is this still constant when the heli falls?

                            not a wind problem.
Mines in an enclosed garden. Can be hovering fairly steady. Then it just drops to the ground, bounces and the flys as normal.Until it just drops again. glad Iam in the hover learning curve.
I was going to buy a blade 450. wish I had.
Horible feeling this is a manufacturing fault somewhere.
Has anyone had no probs at all with the RTF models in the last year or so?
                            Or probs?
This could be a good review!
