    beginner help

    Hi billy

    You need to set the dual rate and expo setting to some thing like

    Dual rate = 85
    Expo =30

    This will dumb down to a reasonable noob setting , it's rate individual what you set the DR & Expo setting , try the above if you want it more responsive just lower the values till you comfortable with how the heli responds.

      I'm only a relative beginner myself, is an 85 rate a bit high for a beginner and would reducing the 85 rate make it more docile rather than less ? Or am I missing something.

        Setting up a dual rate at less than 100% is essentially the same in effect as reducing the servo throws, so no matter how far you move the stick the overall swash movement is less (or put another way, you must move the stick further for the same amount of swash movement).

        Expo affects the area at the stick centre and doesn't limit the overal throws / max movement of the swash.

        I learned on a Raptor 30 V2 and have never used dual rates myself but it's easy enough to set and then you can try both switch positions and see how it feels. I also started out with very little expo but now I generally have about 15 to 18% expo on elevator, aileron and rudder.

        With the Raptor, if you have the black paddles fitted and assuming the rotorhead has not been modded it will be pretty docile without having to do anything else really.

          Agree with advice so far reduce the rates slightly and add some expo (15-20% would be my choice but this is personal preference).
          Most importantly though make sure you have a sensible head speed around 1700 is ok, this is done by balancing the throttle and pitch curves (unless you have a governor of course) higher head speeds make the Heli more lively and a bit more intimidating.
          If you are very new to this try and find a club to help you get the basic settings correct.
