The company I work for is threatening redundancy again and they will kindly let us all know some time in the 2nd half of this year. So feeling pretty depressed I thought sod it let's go fly in the garden.
I was playing about practicing nose in take offs and landings when I drifted a bit close to the fence. I landed and then couldn't be arsed to move the heli so I thought I'd fly it. I find flying forward easier than hovering nose in, the old brain seems to cope with it better.
Too much forward stick and one of the skids stuck slightly in the grass as I took off and the blades just clipped the lawn.
Would have been OK except there was a big fir cone right in the way. The blade hit it and fired it over the 8' fence and far away. I heard a distant clonk, oops sorry.
One blade absolutely fine the other has the end of the covering missing with the result the blade cover has slid down and looks like a baggy sock. Still not bad I've had those blades for about 5 months without any crashes, although I did fly them up into the apple tree and cut the bottoms off all the lower apples and they were only stock woodies.
Note to self: Must clear up the rest of the fir cones before flying again.
