  • Spektrum DX6i dual rates and travel settings

    I have ordered the Dx6i along with a Blade 120Sr and they should be here in a few days. I have been reading the manual and other posts on how to set it up the Dx6i.

    I am confused about one thing and can not seem to get an answer ( that I understand ) I do understand about Dual Rates and Expo. What I do not understand is the Travel settings? What do they do? Are they the same as Dual Rates? Can one setting in the Dual Rates affect the settings in Travel setting?

    What I understand is:

    Dual rates will only allow the servo's to move according to the percentage that has been set in the menu.
    Expo is the stick sensitivity around mid stick position.

    IIRC , travel is how much travel you allow each servo before they can't move any further. It might be asymmetric (ie different travel value in each direction) and the limits apply at all times. dr/expo is symmetric and can be switched in flight. Also , travel only makes sense when servos are attached to Rx directly, ie there is no FBL unit in between , in which case you would set cyclics limits in FBL setup instead. That's the general picture.

      If the blade 120 is the same as the 130 the blade manual has all the settings in it for the dx6i

        What is RX , FBL I am so new its almost embarrassing

          Hi rx is the receiver and fbl is the flybarless system ( no flybar)

            I think (unless your using a Hitec Aurora9 transmitter) travel is absolute and rates are relative (to travel) Eg if you set the travel to 100% and the rates to 50% when you switch the rates in you'll get 50% of the total available movement. If you set the travel to 80% and the rates to 50% you'll get 40% of the total available movement when the rates are switched in.
            Unfortuantely this situation is a bit silly because most TX will allow travel % up to 125/150%
