As a begineer to heli's inam curious to find out what are peoples opinions and experiences with align and e-flite in particular parts and support etc, as I plan to potentially get a larger heli in the coming months.
In the past I would have said Align due to massive spares back up and better helis. But Blade have caught up, and their aftersales service through Horizon is the best in the business.
I personally think you wont go wrong with either brand nowadays
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod Very proud to be a Presenter on ROTORS! The RC Helicopter show
Well, i just had to go and make the same desigion as you, Blades smaller stuff, nano, 130 etc is great! But I do have to admit on their larger stuff such as the blade 300 and 4503d and X are made of loads of plastics. While at the same price as a new 450X you could get a Very decent spec Align 450 pro Flybarless, the align trex 450 is much better quality (less plastic).
But its up to you, try to see what spares your Local Hobby shop sell as you'll want spares fast :P

there are quite a few good heli models around, but they aren't in the same "small and cheerful" class as Blades for indoor flying. They are more like "big, bad and dangerous" class, blade length 500+. Is this what you are interested in?
Among small helis for indoor flying, it would be difficult to find something better than Blade.
Trex 450 DFC with AR7200BX and several small E-flite Blades
Align aren't the best helis but in my opinion, Blades are overpriced plastic toys in comparison.
I fully agree, Align are NOT the best. They are good to a point, but theyre not the best by a long shot. You find there are a lot of fanboi's who will swear by Align and nothing else. There is no argument in that what Align has done for the helicopter hobby is nothing short of ground breaking. But personally I dont find that the helis are that good. And ive had them all bar a 550 and a 700, but Ive flown 700's.
In my experience JR and Hirobo are possibly the best but the price is prohibitive to most. The Goblins seem to fly good but seem to self destruct on impact, Avants, and Srimoks all seem to be good high end helis.
I think the advice here is to have a budget in mind and sample a few of the helis on your shortlist before you make a decision. Get a hold of reviews and compare them all, and prod and poke them in the flesh. And maybe blag a go of one or atleast watch one fly.
Hope this helps

Wel 500 class is a deffinate from my pov, curious as to what else youbcould recommend?

Gaui X-5, MS Protos, Synergy E5. Just off the top of my head. You cant ignore the lure of the Trex 500 because you can get everything in the box and save substantially, But I would look at the others first

If not Align then MSH protos. Gaui X5 and especially E5 are 550 class helis, almost twice as big as average 500.
Align will give you the best value, especially when you crash a lot.
