  • Lama v4 is it faulty?

I received my Lama v4 on Monday, and when I flew it, all seemed ok, but I noticed that the nose seemed to constantly go to the left. I eventually moved the rudder trimmer all the way to the right to try and correct it and it helped a little. When I flew it last night it did the same even though the trim was all the way to the right.
I even tried small adjustments on the controller (the one that reads Gain) and it seemed to correct it. But when the helicopter was switched off and back on it went back to how it was and sometimes worse.
I have a feeling that it is faulty. Or am I doing something wrong?
    Regards.

when you switch /plug the heli in are you leaving it enough time for the gyro to initialize intself? if not this would explain it, if its not that it may be something mechanical

I'm not familuar with the Lama v4 but if its anything like the Blade cx2 then its possble with proportion needs adjusting (if it has it).

Just to clarify your problem, do you mean the heli is spinning nose to the left or the heli is actually leaning to the left (moving left)?

If the nose is moving to the left then see if there is a proportion control on the Gyro/all in one to adjust the power to the motors.

If its moving to the left then check the level of the swashplate. Maybe a server arm needs adjusting.

always make the changes on the all in one with the trims centre (not for throttle though).

Hope that helps, if not then perhaps a Lama expert can come along and suggest something.

      Cheers

My Lama was doing this, except it was going right and forward too much, i adjusted the little arms just inside the canopy, and its really steady now, let me go look for the post that explained what to do.

I dont think your heli is faulty buddy.

I just read this post slowly and adjusted my heli exactly as he said, it helped a lot

if it drifts sideways.and the trim is not enough to control it. centre the trim....pop off the ball link on the left servo arm. if the heli is drifting right..shorten the rod(screw the loop on further). half a turn and retry hovering if its drifting left lengthen it.
if the heli is drifting forward centre the trim pop off the right hand ball link and shorten the rod...backwards lengthen it.... remember half a turn at a time. be patient and you will get it hovering steady with no trim needed at all.

now the tail. hover the heli it should now be in a nice steady hover if the tail drifts right with no input.. land the heli turn the proportion pot anti clockwise very slightly.left drift turn clockwise..then disconnect the battery..reconnect and re-hover. small adjustments be patient. once the tail doesn't drift...apply input to the rudder and release if the heli continues to turn slightly then slowly settles add gain. if it is reluctant to turn and wags reduce gain.( you can do this without disconnecting each time)

          hopefully all that helps

Thank you for all your comments and advice,
I have adjusted the proportion control very slightly anticlockwise, and up until now it seems fine. I am now going to bang my thick head on a brick wall.
PCs are much easier to play with.
Again thank you to all of you.

can i just point out that ghods post of rabs post is a copy n' paste of one of my posts!! it was originaly wrote for blade cx2 setup. and i believe some contra's use different servo setups (left/right ) so always check first which servo is which before adjusting
