  • dx6i and phoneix simulator

    Hi,

I followed the advice and bought myself a DX6i and Phoenix simulator to practice on.

I am a complete newbie and after calibrating the transmitter (used same profile as DX6) I had a go with some practice flying. Using the training helicopter I found it virtually impossible to take off and when I did the helicopter was all over the place, which I found odd and I could not get a hover.

I have probably got something set up wrong and I am worried that if I can't control a heli on the sim I have no chance of controlling a proper model.

One thing I did notice was that when you show the transmitter and the position of the sticks, the right stick moved on the screen even when I was only using the throttle.

    Help!!

do you have the dx6i configured for 1 servo collective or is it set for CCPM?

if you go to the calibrate screen in phoenix if you move the throttle up and down only channel 1 and 6 should move. If you have it set for CCPM then 2 and 3 will move also.

My DX7 behaves just the same when set-up for CCPM..

When going through the set-up choose 1 servo collective and it will be fine.

          Hi

This is my first ever post as I am a brand new member.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone on this forum for the wealth of information that you provide for people who are new to the hobby as I am. After reading all your advice, I have recently purchased a Trex 450SE V2 (RTF) with Futaba 6EX 2.4GHz and Phoenix sim. I decided to miss out the CX2 option as I can fly that to my hearts content on the sim.

I have been practising hard on the sim and am close to being confident at hovering with the Easyfly and Honeybee. However, I have been using the same Tx set up on the sim as has been set up for my Trex model. This includes having the Swashplate mixing set to 3-E on the Tx. I am wondering if (like archeruk's original post) this is why I have been finding it very hard going.

          My questions are.....
          1. Is this 3-E Swashplate setting the same thing as having CCPM on as archeruk has had an issue with?
          2. Should I turn the Swashplate to 1-S on the Tx for the sim? (I am guessing the 1-S setting is equivalent to turning CCPM off)
          3. And most important of all, should I turn the Swashplate to 1-S on the Tx for the Trex model when I start flying it in a few months?

I would have thought that it would be desirable having the same Tx settings for the sim and the model.....is this right?

I'm sure all mixing is done in the sim, so no CCPM is required

Some people also seem to think that flying a helicopter in sim or real is a matter of raise the throttle and the heli hoovers itself and twiddle the sticks and the heli reads your mind and fly
When it does not...then they think it's the software or Tx that's faulty
It takes alot of practice learning to fly and hoover a heli

Most simulators don't understand CCPM mixed signals sent from the Tx and therefore require that you set the Tx up using mechanical mixing settings.

It is not advisable to use one and the same model setting on the Tx for both your real model and for the sim. It's extremely unlikely that the two would ever have an identical Tx setup, and tweaking something on the Tx when using the sim could lead to disaster when you go to fly your real model.

Always use a separate model in the Tx for your sim

              Cheers,

Have switched Swashplate mixing to 1-S on the Futaba Tx (turned CCPM off) and suddenly hovering on the sim is much easier.

Should I leave it at this setting for my Trex?
