Hi

I am looking to order a Belt CP from China or HongKong, but i have read somewhere that i may have to pay 17.5 % VAT. Is this true?

Only if you're lucky

You don't always get caught by customs but there's the risk

check the web site your about to buy from, they sometimes send them as gift so you wont have to pay, but as EZchopper said sometimes you wont have to

cheers guys. The price from China is just so much attractive, only draw back is have to wait for 10-14 days, but saving £50 or more i think its worth it

If you get hit by customs they will want 17.5% Vat and 10% import duty, as well as the carrier (ie parcelforce) wanting 5% or more for administrational costs etc. Thats why it can be over 30%. Only if you get stung for it though.
