  • Long time 'lurker'........

    Hello all,

Long time 'lurker' first time poster!
Iv'e been tempted to take up RC Heli's for ages now & finally took the plunge just after Christmas.
Went to lhs intending to buy a Blade CX2 as this seems to be the most recommended on this site for beginners.
No CX2's in stock & they recommended a Twister V2 would be fine for a beginner.
Few days on & I'me slowly but surely trashing the V2 & the house, the missus found the holes in the dining room curtains yesterday (thought I'de got away with that one ).
Anyhow, my question is whats the best way to proceed from here?
    1) Buy the CX2/Pheonix Sim & start again.
    2) See if the V2 Tx will connect to Pheonix, practice & then try the V2 again.
    3) Find the cheapest Tx compatible with Pheonix & then as 2.

Any sugestions/help will be greatfully received.
Fantastic forum btw & a huge thankyou to pxr5 for help & advise on this model, many pm's exchanged (us V2 boys have got to stick together ).

    Dunph's.

PS: That last sentence sounds a bit gay, thats 'stick together' in a straight kind of way, yeah! ( before you lot start ).

    Ey up another brissle lad....

Twister is reasonably easy to fly and cheep to fix.....

Blade and Pheonix is by far best combination and the radio is compatable with pheonix..... I dont think the radio for the twister will connect its one of the nasty ones that are a bit simple. ... I have a s/H ff6 here thats open to offers it will connect to the sim (round style futaba plug)

if its any consulation, I've trashed the CX2 twice now.. once on the bookcase (3 new blades required) and late last night, and I do mean late, the lamp shade and mi CX2 became aquainted. DOH! another upper blade required.

Conclusion, more space required to allow to make mistakes and have some chance of recovering before tw@**ing the crap out of stuff. Also, Im using the FMS sim at the moment but I'm going to get me that Phoenix thingy-ma-jig, just as soon as the missis int lookin.

I'm just a newbie myself but this is frustrating and funny at the same time, especially if you could see the lamp shade..
Cheers Steve. (CX2 Crash test dummy) Sokay, d'nt urt...

Stick at it youll break it a few times and then youll get the hang of it ..... There will be more than a few holes in the curtains more like a gert dent in the bank account ......

Update: If its of any help to anyone, I exchanged a couple of emails today (+ photo's) with John from Phoenix. The Tx supplied with the Twister is an E-Sky model & will work with the mini-din adaptor which can be ordered from thier website.

Guess what I will be ordering, just as soon as I can persuade Mrs Dunph's that a flight simulator is an absolute necessity in life .

The FMS sim, I'm using at moment as helped me no-end. I can now get a stable hover 3' from the ground (living room) move forward, backward, left and right in a controlled way; no more swinging widely around. I just have to master better throttle control, especially when making rudder adjustments..

I've flown two battery charges today and no damage or collisions..

I'm still gonna get me the Phoenix sim though; I wanna fly mi Blade in the sim...coool
