  • How accurate are your landings?

I've been practising landing accurately, i.e. within 2-3 centimetres. It usually takes me about 5 attempts and over a minute to land this accurately (mCPx and T-Rex 450), but I usually get there in the end. My aim is to be able to consistently land on a pin-head with no need for retries but I'm finding turbulence, etc., make this difficult.

I've just been perusing the BMFA 'B' Certificate, and the acceptable standard is a landing within a whopping 2M square.

So I was wondering, what are your personal targets for landings, and how far from the mark do you usually land and consider acceptable?

I like to aim for a nice looking, soft landing within about a foot. With the uneven grass at FoG you have to pick your spot and land slightly tail up.

I land my 450 on a small clean patch that only allows a couple of inches deviation. TH at about 1ft, tail is always up as long as it can hold it with cyclic, turning to the right spot while skids are already on the ground. It's one of the most exciting maneuvers I do
I guess I couldn't make it with FBL.

Im not really fussed so long as I set it down in a controlled manner.

At the field of doom there was about 2 sq metres to land in, and that wasnt an issue, but usually im not restricted, so its not an issue.

Im more concerned about getting the skids down gentle, all at the same time, with no tipping. Thats far more important to me.

With the mcpx I have fun by sometimes landing on my sandles which is like a 5cm landing zone on one side only not to mention the part where if you land to much to the left or right it's bye bye or I try land in my van

On the 450x, at our flying spot there is a rubberish cricket pitch that has stopped being used and over time grass has made it to be like a perfect 1m x 1m landing and taking off spot

                    Hi,
Just starting with a T-rex 450 and getting fairly good at landing. Have used some hoola rings / hoops in garden and trying to land within. Seems to help. As long as its not upside down I dont care

Yes I find having a real target to aim for is much better at improving skill that just landing somewhere.

I think the 2M refers to a 45 degree landing, with a very short hover. Difficult to judge from far out.

I fly where there are road markings (dissused road with no pedestrian or vehicle access) so use these as a target Like many others on here I normally end the flight with a mini auto...

Good thing about the tarmac is that you don't get grass stains on your tail feathers.....however if you get it wrong this happens.....
