  • Advice on what Heli to buy?

    Hi,

Iv got a Blade Nano which I am currently flying and iv also bought a Blade 450x, I am not at the stage to fly a 450x and am not confident enough, Id like to buy an in-between Heli which I can fly in the garage and in the Garden over winter! Blade 130x etc?

    Has anybody got any suggestions?

    Regards

    Paul

For the garage - the Nano. For the garden - well, depends on the size! I have a reasonably sized garden and struggle to fly the 130X in it beyond hovering and very slow circuits. For me, if wind is light or still, my mCPX is perfect for the garden, so I'd imagine your Nano would be the same.

Anything larger than that and I think you'll struggle to keep it under control in a small space.

If you have a big space however, the 130X is a great heli IMO - but it is FAST and really needs a small park at minimum unless you're a really good pilot!

In a garage or garden!? Really!? I personally wouldn't spool up a 300x in a confined space unless it was a large sports hall. And even then, only if I could fly it like this .. (which I can't! )

For what it's worth, a couple of vids of me with a 130x. The first one in my garden, the second with a large space showing just how fast it can go!

Ok thanks for your advice, I am swaying towards a 130x at the moment due to the other 2 Helis iv got are Blade and the fact it's not huge, but big enough to be a good learning step sounds good, also price is good compared to the T-Rex 250 etc, I am new to the game so I want something I can practice with daily without to much hassle involved. Hope that makes sense.Paul

Hi Paul, how well are you flying the nano? Can you fly it nose in? Do any circuits?
I've only just got my nano and my confidence is building again. Next step for me will be to get my 450 out. Not for a while though!
Mid guess with the airtime ice had with nano it's already paid for itself in crash repairs of my Belt Cpx

                Hey,

No unfortunately for me, I am trying to learn lazy 8s at the mo, I have not long taken Helis up as a hobby so im a beginner..

How about yourself? I agree the Nano seems to just keep going, its my favourite.

I flew my 130x for the first time today, I bought it as an in between step before flying the 450 next summer. I was having no luck today. I got the 130x Heli out the box, managed to hover her once in the garage and after the first battery the servo broke, leaving me with a one flight Blade 130x, back to the shop monday (BAD TIMES)

Gaui 200 for a beginner who doesn't fly his 450x yet???! That wouldn't end good...

To op: Go ahead and dial in the softest settings you can on the 450 and use it for hoover/orientation training in your back yard and keep flying the pants off your nano and 130, you got three very nice helis to learn on...

I started with a trex 100 then moved to a 450 sport . You do get used to the 450 quite quick and spares are cheep

I've got just an MCPX at the moment, next stop is definitely going to be a 450 for something bigger to fly outside.

I'd go for dumbing down your 450 and beg, borrow, steal or buy a Phoenix sim, between the two you'll be piro-ing like a pro in no time. Good luck with it Paul.
                          Trex 450 SEV2.
Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !
                          Trex 550 V2. Adrenalin ( brown kind )
mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
                          Several planks, gathering dust.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.
