  • Picoo Z vs Graupner Jet Ranger, etc

I've had a few go's on my Step Fathers Picoo Z mini helicopter and found it hard to control. It rotates when power is added (I thought it didn't do that due to the contra-rotating props) and you can't seem to hover it.

How does it compare to say the Graupner Jet ranger or mini Bell 47's ?

Are they more easy to control due to 4 axis controllers (?) and better engineering? Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or am I getting a false sense of RC helicopters from using a 'toy' rather than a 'proper' RC helicopter

There is a little trim button on the controller buddy, if it spins left, keep pressing the trim right untill it stops, you cant really control the picco thou, it has no forward or back control, just right and left and thottle, my one dont even go left, it spins left LOL.

        Try a Blade CX 2 or a E sky Lama v4

Traumahawk, the PiccoZ is just a toy I'm afraid and as such it's controls are really limited. A contra-rotating heli such as the Blade CX, Graupner or Twister will give you a much better idea of what to expect from a 'proper' RC Helicopter. The contra rotating heli's are great for getting a first proper go but once you've learnt to fly those you'll want to move on to something a bit more involved.

Don't base any decisions on flying the PiccoZ though - they're just a bit of fun...

Thanks for all the advice. I now have a Graupner Jet ranger which I have slowly been learning to fly. We only have a small living room so have been very careful with my flying. Its survived a few bumps into table legs and heavy landings and it still works !

I'll have to take it to work and fly it in the sports halls there, or on the open ground outside my office. I can really see the difference between the Pico Z and the Graupner...far more manauverable and powerful, clearly my fears were unfounded.

I can see this is a hobby you can really become engrossed in and wanting to do more!
