  • My Thunder Tiger Raptor 30 V2 is on the way - Advice Needed on Parts Please

    Hello

I have just purchased a Thunder Tiger Raptor 30 V2 from jamiesawyer28041978 here on the forum. Jamie has been excellent in the deal and very helpful throughout.

As I am new to this branch of RC I hope that you guys will be able to help me with a few questions.

To complete the heli I need the following

7 ch receiver and transmitter. 2.4 GHz frequency .

5 servos in total , 1 with the gyro ,1 for aileron , 1 for elevator ,1 for throttle and 1 for the pitch on the blades .

A set of 550mm glass resin blades

Also a set of glass resin tail blades

    Set of paddles

A 2000mah battery 4.8volts output . (I guess the mah could be higher)

A heavy duty switch between the Rx and its battery.

I have an OS engine in the plane I built and like it. What is a good OS engine for this model?

Possible starting equipment, I have short and long glow startes, and a nose cone starter for my plane....will I need anything else???. Also got 20% Nitro fuel???

So, if possible could someone post me links to a shop of what I need exactley based on the above list. This way I can order the whole lot from one place. I appreciate that some of the items will not be cheap, but, as I found with my cars and trucks, no point buying really cheap servos, Tx and Rx as you only end up swapping them out. So I am in the market for good starter kit that will stay in the heli for some time.

Many thanks for taking the time to help me out

OS 37 SZH engine would be good for it.

Take your pick there all good places to shop online. You will need starting gear, have you any? Go for a bigger battery than 2000 mah if ya want to not be charging all the time.

if you get a dx 7 youl get ya four servos with it,could get a 401 gyro and 9254 tail servo, if you shell out now will make it easyer.
cant see why u need carbon tail blades, fastlad have sum cheapish 550 glass blades.
and if you can find owt any cheaper anywhere on a website and you email them they normaly match the price

beware ard the spektrum servos are not good . buy a dx7 set and ask your dealer to exchange your sevos for futaba 3152,s. futaba servo's are twenty pounds each you should get ten each for the spektrum.
one futaba 3001 on throttle £12
        a 401 gyro and a 9254 on the tail is perfect.£140 ish
jr carbon blades are a good start £35 standard tt paddles
plastic tt tails will do for now
you will need starter shaft that fits inside your cone starter £8
4300 mah on rx is only£15 so bigger is better(safer i learnt that the hard way)
and yep a heavy duty switch (supplied with dx7 is adequate)

engine wise i have an os32 great at first but soon feels underpowered!so i guess a 37 would be the better choice

to be honest take a trip up to fast lads at barnsley or down to inwoods at huntingdon( hour and half eitherway) and talk to them face to face, get some good advice and tips with your bits.

I've bought a couple of these sets off Phil....good value & quick.

OS37 Heli engine. The 32 is underpowered & gets hot as a result. I put in a 37 ages ago and haven't had to touch it since.

JP or Ripmax glass blades are fine. A decent compromise between the woodies & carbons. Cheap enough to replace in a crash and flexible enough to feel good in flight. IMHO About £25.

            Best of luck

You dont need tail blades or paddles cos there on the helli already and i forgot to mention i have a 50 size engine mount with the helli to so if you buy an engine to go in it and remove the Toki 40 engine then id go for the os 50 hiper which is £119 . And you would need to get the fan to screw on to the engine and boom and belt . You have to buy blades any way so a set of 600mm blades . But if i were you id hang fire and try the 40 toki engine that is fitted in it just now and see how you get on . This engine will be fine for beginning out with .

honestly i wouldn't hesitate to buy another dx7 if i had the need. the one radio related crash i've had was an rx battery failure.
sorry mark ruined you sales pitch!

no that servo is for a small 400 size heli
you need the 401 with a 9254 servo. pm stuartn i expect he will do them but a few pounds more

i appologise for flaming marks sales pitch. dont know if his thanks was genuine! but i dont think its fair to cast doubt over a very good radio just to try and get a sale, especially in the beginers forum
