  • Please can I have some advice before I place my order?

    Hi Everyone,

I am still new and still very unsure about what I need.

I have decided on ordering a Blade 450X and also a DX8 Transmitter.

I noticed there are options on the DX8, looks like the 450x comes with a reciever already so if I order,

Spektrum DX8 TX and Charger Only - Instock

Will it be ok to start out with?

Just need some general advice really, also any other items that will be needed, I intent to order a carry case and a training under carriage.

    Look forward to your reply.

    Regards

    Paul

as a beginner my advice to you would be to find a flying club close to where you live and talk to the heli fliers there buy a sim and get plenty of practice on that before it starts costing loads in crashes, although you will get plenty of very good advice and help from forum members on here good luck with it all

Yes mate that would be fine also for a first time pilot i would recommend buying a set of training balls to help you get used to heli

        Good luck

Allocate some funds for a few spare batteries too, one is never enough.

              Thank You John.

I have flown smaller models is the past and had cars etc so I am quite confident i will pick it up(Hopefully).I like the idea of repairing it in my spare time,I guess the time will come when I crash her. Yes I was looking at ordering a set of the training balls.

Can you recommend a helpful and well known hobby shop to spend my money with?

              Thanks John

You never have enough batteries or charging capacity.

More importantly have you added training gear?

Depends on the settings, tame it down you can probably get 6 mins safe enough depending on the battery used. I can push 8 mins on my raptor leaving 35%.

Brentford radio control, FastLadPerformace and Midland helicopters are all brilliant shops that have websites to look around on

Also be weary as the 450X is a flybarless machine that might feel strange for the first few flights

No problem if you need any help at all this forum will help you out

The default settings is 4.5 min if i remember right, but that is for 3d setting with 100% idle up,just hovering and stuff u will get more time, i suggest u get one of these Smart Guard 2 Lithium Battery Checker and Discharger - Battery Checkers - Electronics | Midland Helicopters Ltd

then after your flight u can check your battery and alter the alarm timer in dx8 to suit, dont let them get below 20%..

PM me if u get one, one of the cool things about dx8 is the sd card reader, i can copy my 450x settings to another model memory, i can then change the settings in that for a beginner set up, i can then send u that file , u put it in your dx8 and u are good to go, ofc u will just have to check that servos are moving the correct way but i cant see that being a problem, so get a small SD card if it doesnt come with one in the package u buy..

That would be more than helpful, thank you very much, I will note down your user name, very helpful.

I read up about the Dx8 and read that it was possible to do that however being new I don't know anybody to help me.

                          Thanks

If I was just starting out I'd be giving Raj a call at align-trex.co.uk and would probably walk away confident I've got everything I needed and secured the best deal possible as he's always been very helpful and I believe he price matches., good luck mate, Ian.
