What helicopter would you buy and why?

I bought a piccolo fun and learnt to hover in my front room, but heven't tried any of the others.

Note the Piccolo is useless outside if there is even a breath of wind.

But whatever you go for, upgrade the battery to a Lithium Ion type, not only lighter but give 15 mins plus flying and much better performance.

Wouldn't you harm the piccoboard with a lithium ion battery? A 3p or a 2p? And how many mah should you take?

I'd tried my Piccolo on the 6 cell 250ma standard battery somewhere between 7.2v and 9v depending on the current draw and a 7 cell 600ma Nickel Hydrid, 8.4 v nominal. Slightly longer flight times with the 7 cell battery but not by as much as hoped probably due to the heavier wt.

The Li-ion is a 3 cell (11.1v) 800 ma pack but about 40% wt of the 7 cell, hence flt times are much longer, easy 15 mins.

Not sure about the piccoboard as I've only done about 6 flts todate. Shouldn't be a problem though as the BEC's can tolerate different input voltages and the load on the speed controller section should be less as higher voltage = less amps. Hovering now at half throttle instead of 85%, climb is much more responsive as well.

If you go this route don't forget you'll need charger capable of Li-ions, but mine cost less than 20.

Try this web site for info on the piccolo sounds like this user has tried lots of different batteries - http://www.pgoelz.com
