      Hi Ant, I'm also from East Grinstead and have been looking for a local club with not much luck. Most local clubs are for planks only! I'm a beginner also and own both the mSRX and mCPX. If you do find a local club let me know. I hear that the Sackville School gym is used during the winter months for indoor flying - although not found out which club this is yet? Matt

        Hi Mat good to know there are more novices out there, haven't heard of sackville gym being used before, was thinking of finding out how much it would be to hire out a court at kings centre my mate has just bought a nano cpx as he liked mine if the weather is calm and good I fly in the field behind what used to be the woodbury hotel.

          Hi Ant, if you get a decent price for booking the kings centre let me know as I would be keen to join in - plus it would help split the costs a bit more. Matt

            That training aid looks nuts!

            Lots of better ways to learn ... eg.
            * A flight school
            * A simulator
            * A small heli (ie. nano or mcpx)
            * a proper flight course (eg. How To Fly RC Helicopters)

            Strapping down a heli like that looks dangerous frankly...

              Re: Hi everyone

              That bloke is a looney, and he boasts to be an expert so I sent my heli to him to set up and he charged me £100 and sent it back with a burnt out motor and I had only flown it twice, he also charged me 22 quid for a £10 battery, when I told him he told me to go away and not bother him, total to$$er in my opinion

                I totally agree, never went that route in the end, soon after I bought an mSRX and also the nano cpx and have phoenix 4 also for practice. The 300x has been out of action for 2 months now waiting for gear sets for the cyclics, replaced tail servo for the 3rd time and now the beastx unit has had to be sent back as the setup button doesn't work, very frustrating, I will hopefully get everything back next week and maybe actually fly it again (or should that be attempt to fly it )

                    I don't think there's an easy way of learning to fly helis that break and cost money when crashed. It is all about getting used to the "fear" factor. It is also what makes it so much fun. Phoenix and real flying are very close, it's just a matter of finding out what you can do under pressure. To begin with pressure makes you worse, but the right amount of pressure makes you better. Then there's the overconfidence. You might find Phoenix more useful if you can get really annoyed with yourself when you crash. Force yourself to at least switch off the computer (not standby or hibernate) and think how much money and time that crash has cost you. Turn the wind up as well with some turbulence. Before long you'll be able to fly for as long as you want without crashing. Then it's up to you. Some people fly within themselves and others push themselves and crash a lot. You'll find your own way that's best for you. The fear factor, like the power of your car, will soon vanish as you get used to it. Then you'll probably need something bigger.

                        Being in command is what it's all about. It usually lasts until the end of the flight.

                          Hi everyone

                          I went the expensive root and went to the rchotel in Corfu for a week. Not cheap but I got one to one lessons on a club Heli 25€ an hour, my Heli setup and test flown for free and a week in corfu to boot. When I got home I could fly solo no problems and due to the wind out there I've never had an issue with British weather.
