  • tail spin on trex 450 plus

Hi can anyone give me advice please, my trex 450 was hovering well this morning with the tail steady, spooled up this afternoon and as soon as the main blades speed up the heli spins as if the gyros not working.
how can this happen when its not been touched, I am used to fixed wing and I'm afraid I'm finding the change over quite a journey. please any help would be appreciated.
    best regards

hi mate check that the tail belt is not slipping also grab hold of tail rotor blades and check by trying to to turn rotor head and check nothing is loose in tail drive i would say that is where youre problem is not in gyro modern electronics very reliable imho

You haven't turned it from heading hold mode to rate mode by mistake?

Have you assigned one of your TX switches to the gyro? if so you could have moved it therefore putting the Gyro in rate mode.

You may have a switch on the TX to change from Heading hold mode to rate mode. I know as have taken off in rate mode before and my heli started to piro.
Turn it on and move the rudder. It should stay where you leave it and not return back to center when you let the stick go. That might be the most basic way of telling.

Ray, there are many possibilities, both mechanical and electronic that could cause this issue.

If I was in your situation (and i do remember being totally confused by it all) I would setup a new model on the Tx, bind it to your receiver and start from scratch. I would then follow Finless Bobs Trex 450 videos on how to setup your Tx and Gyro (and all his other vids as they are such good information). Using someone to setup your heli is great, but when the inevitable happens and you crash, you dont want to be forking out again for a setup. Honestly Finless is the way forward!

Hi Jez, did exactly what you said what a fantastic site finless bob, reprogrammed the tx and gyro and checked every thing as per Bob and she is back to being fit and healthy again. What I don't understand is : the heli is hovering real good, land well, then put her in the garage for a couple of hours then she developes some programming hitch is this possible??????????
Any way I would like to say a very big thank you to all you guys for your kind help.
