I get buy on eflite tool set, includes allen, philips and flat drivers, also a little case with similar tools and cutters, ball link pliers (crap, I got the Align ones later) and long nose pliers. Digital pitch gauge, blade balancer and swash leveller. That's it. Really.

Digital makes it less error prone but remember to zero on a piece of flat heli surface that is square to the main shaft.

Get yourself the rc logger digital pitch gauge an some good ball link pliers, good thread lock an Allen drivers, also a cell checker for battery's will be the most usefull thing ull ever buy.

I have no idea what this obsession is with digital pitch gauges. Is it really that hard to sight against the flybar? Is it really harder than ensuring your main shaft is completely vertical to the Earth? (those of you who are flybarless may feel different!)

I'm flybarless. But yes, because I have three different sight ranges I find the gauge can be in focus and the bar is a fat blur. With my medium range glasses on then I'm too far away and one or the other will blur. With my distance glasses on everything is blurred within 5'.

              Digital does help me

What spares to get a good question. I would start by investing in a training undercarriage this will hopefully minimise the number of main blades you get through. So the spares, Main Shafts, feathering shafts, main blades, booms, undercarriage. these are some of the most common bits that break. When I started I built up quite a collection of spares which I still delve into now when I need to.

                  Hope this helps

                  Enjoy

in regards of tools I think most things have been mentioned, in regards of spares - buy them when you need them .. some are even sell crash kits that combine the usual suspects

off the bay, you can get cheap and cheerful sets from Hong Kong,Taiwan or china. These are OK for learning on but not the best blades in the world

For early days cheap fibreglass blades will do, but for a couple quid more you can get align slight seconds which are much better blades with a minor visual blemish
