  • Help on picking my first heli...?

    Hi,
Forgive me I'm totally new to this heli thing

I have been searching the web for beginners heli's and have found a few, but want to get some expert advice before I take the plunge. I don't want to make the wrong decision which will mean I end up getting bored or disillusioned and not taking it any further than the living room.

I do like the look of the CX2 that has been mentioned on here lots, but as far as I can see the controller does not come with a trainer port.
There are some cheaper models I have seen namely the E Sky Comanche and E Sky 4Ch Honey Bee that do have trainer ports.

Is it better to get a heli where I have the option of having some practise on a Sim?
I am a bit worried that the E Sky models may be a bit cheap and just end up putting me off, but do like the fact that they have the trainer option.

The other main question I have is, what is the different between the co-axial heli's and other non co-axial 4ch heli's. The above mentioned Honey Bee is a non co-axial 4ch heli which is described as being 'great for beginners', so how does this differ in flying terms from the co-axial types of from the more advanced heli's?

I'm not too worried about how much cash I spend, I just want to find the right balance between getting something I can actually fly and something that I can really learn from.

Maybe I should get a good controller and a cheapish crashable indoor heli to play with so I can upgrade just the heli later....?

Any idea would be well received

    hi and welcome
the blade cx2 is a brilliant first heli and the controler does have a trainer port. it will take the standard jr dongle for the pheonix sim.
so for less than £200 you can have a good first heli and probably the best sim on the market!

      Thanks Boggy,

I liked the CX2 but none of the websites I have seen even mention that it has a trainer port and the phoenix sim does look great and I'm sure it will be really helpful.
So I guess that's me pretty much sold, so it's back to searching for a good deal on the CX2

      Thanks again

both those can be baten by buying sepratley from hobby hanger in yeovil.
            blade cx2 £117
            pheonix £79
            £196
to be honest most local hobby shops are selling at the same price it will be difficult to get much cheaper (ebay/hong kong i know)

            http://www.hobbyhangar.co.uk/catalog/

or of course stuart in the helliaddict store for the sim

                Thanks to you all,

I have found the CX2 at £110 and incidently if any one needs it thay have the manual available for download too.
                http://www.rcpitstop.co.uk/e-flite-c...er-rtr-7-p.asp

So with Phoenix at £80 direct from their website £190 probably means the cheapest I can get this for, so I'm just a click away.

                Well that's my Christmas sorted.

                Thanks for the advice guys

                      Hi there, and welcome.

I got my first real heli today

I was also looking at the CX2 as my first heli. However i ended up choosing between the Belt CP and the Hunny Bee King 2 ( i ended up taking the HBK ) Because of the great reviews on them.

The HBK only set me back £125 and that was with next day delivery and an extra battery / training balls / free sim / tx is usb compatible.

Its built almost exactly the same way as most of the bigger heli's so when i am learnign how to setup the heli its skills that are transferable if / when i upgrade.

Its very hard to learn with people say. But i have always liked a challenge and i think its a great heli.

To be honest i dont know much about the Heli world yet. But i have just taken the step you are lookign to take.

The guys on this forum have been so helpfull to me, and they can tell you anything you need to know.

Also if there is anythign at all i can help you with just ask

Good luck with your choice, i hope you enjoy it as much as i just have
