  • DX7 and servo connection

equipment: Belt cp with esky 8g servos, DX7 and AR7000 RX

I'm a complete beginner with computer TX's and today ive connected the servos and bound the RX to the TX but im not getting right cyclic and everything is reversed. I tried turning round the servo connectors and this time nothing happened, the esky HH gyro just blinks blue and red.
please unleash your thoughts. many thanks.

The manual doesn't explain where the servos connect, i mean ive got 4 servos but only rudder, elev and aile connections on the RX. whats left is thro, aux 1, aux 2 and gear.

The ESC plugs into channel 1 (Throttle).
You then have the cyclic servos which plug into 2, 3 and 6 (Aileron, Elevator, Pitch=Aux1).
Tail servo plugs into channel 4 (Rudder).
Gyro gain is channel 5 (Gear).

      Hope this helps.
      Cheers,
      Rob

thanks rob, it was the aux1 channel i needed to know about cheers.
also i had to alter the servo arm quite a bit to stop it buzzing at max roll so that threw me off a bit cos i wasn't getting any movement at all.

That description sounds like the swashplate is binding (on full roll)?

You may need to reduce the values in the swashmix menu for aileron and elevator (to keep them equal).

          Cheers,
          Rob

thanks again bro all this info is fresh to me and useful. ive just come in from trying to fly for the first time using carbon main blades and the DX7 and i nearly killed the heli twice while attempting to lift off.
as soon as is got light it was VERY sensitive so i have a lot of setting up to do. its like having a whole new helicopter.

You can reduce the amount of cyclic (aileron and elevator) throw available in the swash menu - this way, you can dull down the response of the heli to your inputs.

              Remember, small inputs!

Don't whack the cyclic stick to the edges, you very rarely need to give full cyclic stick, regardless of the manouevre your doing.

              Cheers,
              Rob

cheers ill have a look later its on charge at the mo. just got the charger today.
the only time ive used full cyclic is when im setting it up. i find naturally i never need anywhere near full cyclic. practicing a totally stationary hover is my favourite thing, its a bit hypnotic seeing a heli in a perfect hover and when you get that setup peachy its great, then you crash.
