  • Are my Li-Po's dying

My BCX2 was out of the scene for about one month due to personal reasons so the heli and batts' were stored away in the spare bedroom.

Last week she resumed her normal service only for me to find, and this is the weired bit, that on one charge there do fine, they come out of the batt' compartment hot as hell, then another I get about 4 minutes at best and there just warm?

As I say thieve had quite a bit of use, and is this there way of saying the roads nearly at the end for us, get some new battery's?

      Thanks for the reply mate.

Since I've had the CX2 the battery's have always come out hot, when the battery's have there least power cycles as there doing now, have been the only times there came out warmish.

It just seems strange that after a few weeks of not using them there only now playing up, whereas before the break in flying there'd been fine?

Could it be the charger on the way out even?

I'm going to try it direct from a socket and not an extension lead.

The BCX and batts have only ever been using in the livingroom so cold hasn't killed them off.

That at least would have been an easy solution to the problem.

I've connected the charger to a 12v 12AH battery using the clips, one of the battery's that were charged under two hours has been on charge now for the last 15 minutes while using the battery.

I'll post my findings here once I've flown recharged a few times to see if there's a difference

Hmmmm. Did you ever invest in a good charger ?
There's some that condition the Li-Po's with a discharge then charge i think ?!
Maybe that's what they need ???

What kind of charger would you recommend mate, I'm only using the supplied balance charger that came with the CX2.

My findings after discharging the last mains powered charges and using the 12v DC battery to charge the Li-Po's is they had more lasting power after just one charge.

All I can think of, and I know it shouldn't make any difference but I've been using an extension lead, whereas before the transformer has been plugged straight into the wall socket?

Nevertheless the 12V battery seems to charge them better than the mains right now, So I'm going to plug it direct in the wall next time and see what happens.

OK I've now done two discharge - charge of the batts using the 12v 12ah as the power source and now the li-Po's are giving me around the nine minute flying time again, coming out the heli on the warmer side of hot(ish) like before, plus there taking roughly two hours to charge, where before they were done just over an hour.

                  Weired or what?

I'm going to try and charge them via the mains straight from the wall socket next and see if the performance stays the same as batt charging, I can't imagine it won't, and for some reason using a 13 meter extension lead doesn't seem to offer the same output...Christ knows, only I'm pleased there back to normal now.
